Ruby, from whom I always buy watches recently, is going to source a nice 176 for me :)

I was never interested in base, but I was sold while I was browsing thru Timezone the other day
looking at the 176 and 082 pics.

I can't wait. I asked for a G series with "L SWISS L" on the bottom of 6
and thick crown like her 036. I think the H series rep's "L SWISS MADE L" being
too close to the 6 is a dead giveaway.

Will post pics when I receive the watch. Anyone knows any common problems
with the typical G series rep dials?

I really liked Joshua's 176 - please see below - but it was a bit too pricey at over $400.

Thanks!

I bought a sausage dial from Joshua before and it had recessed pin problem. As far as I heard and read,
Ruby's 036 didn't have this issue... so we'll see ^^ I also read in TZ that only about 400 units of the 176G were in circulation back in 2003(?) - I guess it's rarer than H or I series (harder to tell it's a rep, not that I am trying to fool people).

Hope Ruby comes thru for me - I received a confirmation from her that she'd be hunting down one of these for me 8)

nice watch. The simplicity of it is what makes it look great imo.

$400...man, the price for reps is really going up. You could get an excellent quality dive watch or the like that would last forEVER for that price.

Epoch had a nice one of those and cheap too about a week ago, post is now gone, looked pretty good, cant remember the movement but I think it had a G series dial.

Yeah... I actually saw it before I was interested >.< but I guess I am now looking for one more customized to my needs... with thicker crown, dagger mvmt, A/R, etc. not sure if Epoch's had all these features... it sure was a killer deal... (under 120 USD I believe).

Where did you get that crown? Is it Jimmy Fu's (?! can't remember his exact name)

Look amazing. They both look like H series.

The 176 is a beauty! I use to like the 112 alot, but now i want a 176, beacuse it´s "non-shiny"...
Will contact Ruby too, I think...

Mate, your Bases always make my heart skip a bit...:)

Yes, yes...I'm into 176 (if I could only find a decent one) and all the Bases in general...they form a backbone of my PAM collection...000G,002B,009B,112F,210H...

That 'fat' crown on your 176H looks like it was transplanted from a 036 MM ?

cheers,
babola

I LOVE my 176h. I think it's the best looking watch Panerai makes. It's interesting hearing you guys talking about price. I bought mine from Joshua last fall/winter and it cost me $308. Damn, prices have gone up. I've since relumed and added Davidsen cannon pin and hands. I'm looking for a good crown guard. If anyone knows where to get one please let me know.

I wear the watch so much that I'm thinking of selling my 4th gen PO and Bond watch. They just don't get any time.

Hi,

Joshua still has the $308 version. It isn't the G-series model though. His 176G with swiss mvmt swanneck is over $400.

remember that the TI cases are run in much smaller batches hence the tend to cost more for the specific run. That is also why if you see a TI case you want, and don't buy it, you shouldn't complain when you can't find it later on. The same will apply to CG and crowns, buckles.

The original PAM036 cases is a good example. I'd apply that same factor to the newer DSN PAM036 case, (that is such a nicely detailed case and I am talking parts here, as Ti cases are unique, the rest of the bits are easier to source)

But snap up the cases, casebacks, buckles, crowns and CGs while you can, reps that were comon 2 years ago are now being sold used for twice their original price ... supply and demand can even make replicas, rare.

That is a good point. I am just hoping (and wishing) Ruby can source the same watch for a bit cheaper ^^
Thank you for the insight, Enzo.
