i know there's no good reps of the mcqueen or gulfs, but saying you would live with a quartz just for a fun watch, does anybody at least make one with the face correct?

nope... dial spacing of the gen (2892 w/ chrono module) can not be replicated by quartz or any movement being used now...

i'm really new to replica watches, but 2 weekends ago i lost my 36 year old heuer monaco. i called it the steve mcqueen but actually back then i don't know what it was really called. famous blue face monaco he wore in lemans. still very sad over losing it.....

anyway, if you are lucky enough to be able to afford and actually own a gen i'm not sure i would sell it if i was you. if you don't need to sell it for a reason keep in mind they're gonna discontinue th emonace plus it's a watch that it doesn't look like is gonna get cloned. it very well may appreciate strongly in the future.

on top of that, it's a very beautiful and distinctive watch to own and when they're all gone... they'll be all gone. i got that straight from the owner of store that's a large tag dealer so i think it's probably true. might check that out to make sure. but it's been around for a heck of a long time now and all good things eventually come to an end. very possible they may make small special runs but what i was told the monaco are gonna end.

i'm jealous.... :--) guard it. pin broke on my strap while i was driving with my arm out the window and i watch it come off as i drove down the interstate at 70mph. i looked hard but we couldn't find it....

i didn't realize how bad the reps were until i looked around after i lost mine. i would settle for if the just put the right faces on the chronos but making them that bad just looks.. well, wierd.

ya wanna hear what REALLY bites.... after i lost it i turned it into my insurance company. all these years i've kept a special items policy on it because most home owners policies don't cover jewelry worth very much on the regualar policy. so i kept it insured. about 5 years ago we moved to a new house. i changed my insurance around for a new dwelling and address but with the same company. while we were moving my wife took the kids birth certificates, my watch, and other valubles and put them in a bank safetdeposit box. somehow, during re-insuring things i did cameras, wifes rings, and stuff like that, but guess what we forgot to re-insure on the new policy???? yep, you got it. i had a total of 1000 dollars insurance on a 1973 (i think it was a 73...) heuer monaco just like mcqueens that was in near perfect shape. and on the thousand, they took off my deductable and then the adjuster tried to deduct for being old... :( so they wanted to give me something like 300 bucks.

you have any idea how much a 73 heuer monaco is worth today??? don't make me cry by telling me cause i checked.

the good news is that after screaming i did get the insurance company to pay me the full value they had on my watch. yep.... i got the full 500 bucks. just telling the story has made me depressed...

i gotta go get a drink

sometimes life can be like drinkin the punch after somebody just farted and put a turd in the punchbowl

Sorry to hear about your bad luck...

Back to the OP, Watcheden has a bunch of quartz Monaco's whick are ok - if you can ignore
the 24 hour hand....but at a glance it looks like the the gen Monaco's running secs! :)

I have just ordered 3 Monaco's from WE; the 2007 Gulf (black/blue/orange dial), Vintage Gulf (white dial) and the McQueen. All with the parked chronos seconds hand. I think these are probably the best Monaco reps available at this time. Then there's the 21j autos - but the sub dials tend to look odd, with the calendar graduations. The black quartz (not Ltd. Ed.) Monaco Chronograph seemed ok at a glance, but again the 3 subdials were too busy compared to the gen.

I know there are slight variations in dial text compared to the gen - "Chronometer" instead of "Automatic" or "Chronograph" - but most non-WISs wouldn't notice this...
