I may be alone in this but I've always found the oysterlock clasp both vintage and modern to be unnecessary and annoying.

I purchased a good quality vintage and modern oyster clasp, which I often replace on watches I like and switch back when I sell them on.

Anyone else prefer the simple snap of a vintage oysterclasp or smooth simple function of a modern datejust clasp
Or is it just me?

That’s part of the Rolex diver design. One extra security while under water, and with the gloves you don’t fiddle with the clasp

Totally unnecessary for urban desk divers, just like the massive CG on Panerai.

Personally I like them. But I also enjoy the simple fold of the Explorer 1016

I like taking off my watch when I'm lying on the couch and whizzing it around in my hand, looking at and appreciating the design of the watch and the weight and tactile feel of it in hand. This means I may take my watch on and off a few times a day, and the little flip lock clasp is just annoying.
An extra step that is undignified and unnecessary, I've never had a regular oyster clasp fail or go flying off my wrist at an unfortunate moment.
By my reckoning it must take 0.5 seconds to actuate the flip lock on and off, maybe 6 times a day is 3 seconds a day or 20 minutes a year wasted flipping that annoying little bastard for no good reason 🄹

It's there for a reason.
In my time with the Evil empire, which some people call by an R name that a drunk Englishman once stole off a urinal cake. For our slower readers it rhymes with Rolex. Brass TACTS. Rolex views their Customer clientele base much like Sam Knight did in the 70s. They want to make a Watch that is almost indestructible to the absolute morons who purchase all, but say three or four of them much like the Gorillaz threw around the in a video that most of you have never seen and will have to YouTube Rolex envision their customer perform performing in the same idiotic manner. That said you cannot say that Rolex does not know who their customer base is especially the douche bags who buy the yacht master. Have a good day everybody

20 minutes a year :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Then there's the time waiting for the traffic lights to turn green, coffee/tea to brew.
And the shower water to get hot.

Correction everyone, I’m dictating these posts. So it seems that I have been a party to inadvertently smearing Sam Knight’s good name in a very half assed attempt to say Samsonite while setting a terminal curve on an old Nardin/Turler movement. Also it gives me a chance to tell you what everyone in the watch industry teaches their kids. Strangers are dangerous , but a stranger wearing a Piaget is definitely 100% going to kill you . It’s their nature
