Shattered crystal on a 1950 Flyback, sold with no reserve as is. However the sellers response to the question as to the authenticity of the watch left me cold:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=016

The watch was a gift. The watch is sold as is. There is no guarantee of any authenticity. If interested offer and or bid accordingly. Thanks

I won't lie, I thought about scoring a $10K watch for $1K and replacing the crystal...Then slowly backed away, watched the finish of the auction on the sidelines and kept dreaming about one of my all time fave watches. No regrets though, better safe than sorry.

yeah this guy is a con. Stating "no guarantee of any authenticity." It seems that the standard disclaimer for not knowing the history of a watch is "it was a gift"....Laguna NIgel though???

ultimately, i just didn't buy it. who doesn't know they own a mother of an expensive watch? further, if it was real why let it go for a grand? i didn't realize crystals were running so expensive these days...sadly, someone probably got taken. i could be wrong, but the whole thing stunk to high heaven.

I pity the fool who paid 1200 bucks for a $250 rep. How do I know that? I have the very same rep from Joshua and just compared pictures of the movement. Both mine and the movement of this watch on sale have identical "cotes de geneve", and the blued screws on the bridges are in the same position (quite different position from those on the original watch bridge).

Compare:

i emailed him/her too. felt funny about it like i was interfering in natural selection and wasn't sure of the response i'd get. i am continually amazed at the amount of people that get taken to the cleaners over online interactions. sometimes just spectating can be fascinating. poor bastard indeed.

***UPDATE***-Just got a response back from the buyer. The seller has refunded his money-seems like guilt got the better of him.

understood...however, we all buy and sell reps knowing what they are. taking a rep to ebay and not being upfront about what it is, is wrong. i might be naive, but i'm assuming we are buying reps for our personal pleasure and not to make easy money on the unsuspecting.

yeah, i got the same response, as well as a thanks for looking out for me...

i wish ebay would then take these "times of helping out a seller who is getting scammed" and put it towards a negative feedback that one recieves unfairly.
