Any Thoughts on LumiNox?

I'm considering a LumiNox as a daily work beater. I don't know why, since I already have many daily beaters... just addicted I guess.

Anyway, does anyone here have a Luminox? How do you like it? Are they as rugged as they are marketed to be? How's the battery life with the always-on tritium tubes?

Any input is welcome. Talk me out of it if you can... that would really help me out!! :biglaugh:

Tritium tubes do not require power, they work by radiation exciting a phosphorescent coating on the inner surface of the tube.

Yes, they are a tough watch, indispensable if you work at night and need to tell the time.

Talk you out of it? But I think they're cool.

Maybe the tritium will make the skin fall off of your wrist?

No, that probably won't happen.

I got nothin'. Just buy one. And post pics!

My 1st Luminox was great, esp. at night but got broke by a battery insertion idiot. Quoted $60 to repair. Its in my drawer. My 2nd was bigger, bought from a mall kiosk, and the tritium has always been only 1/2 as bright as the first. A bad batch. Both straps replaced with comfortable velcro lumi straps as opposed to the hard plastic junk they came with.
Now Lumis come with sapphire crystals, but if you pay 3x more, you can get a Ball Engineer(?) which seems to be a serious gen...
Just my 2 cents.

I've a Luminox 3951. Really nice watch. Lume last 25 years, no charge needed. This model has a great wristband. It's very light weight too.

You have to know that even when the lume is "eternal", it's not ultra bright. Just enough to be seen in the dark without problems.

Got mine from Amazon. Unbeatable price. Fast delivery

I have a 3953. Sapphire would be a better crystal, the mineral on mine has some light scratches. Other than that the plastic case will take a beating and look weathered with some where The ti cases can be much more durable. Great watches for the money if you like quartz reliability.

I Have a Stealth Luminox that has been to work with me for the last 9 years. Lyme has gone down and it shows some wear but not a scratch on the crystal and still has a nice AR.

I got a stealth one too. It's been through a lot. I dumped the rubber bracelet and it's now on a nato. I don't wear it very often, but it's my go to watch for sports and things like that.
