I think my next watch is a PAM183 black seal with modds.

The only concern I have is the crown. I think it sticks out a bit and I do not have a feeling how good the quality of the crown is, when it gets screws in. Any experience with that?

Also, I have seen several pictures of the watch with Panerai engravings and without. I guess the original has the engravings.

Would also appreciate if someone can post some pics.

Thanks a lot

The crowns can thread on 183 reps, but it's becoming less common these days. If you take care loosening and tightening the crown, you should have no problems. Those with more porcine "ungulatus manus" (ham-fisted) approaches to crown-screwing should avoid this watch. The more gentle, those of us with all the polystyrene from our last computer purchase in the loft or their childhood toys still in good condition for instance, users that actually look after their stuff and don't let jam-handed nephews play with their ornaments even when their partners tell them nothing can go wrong and when something does go wrong say well you let him play with it didn't you and then call you materialistic when you shout at them because you didn't let them touch them because itwasyoubitch howmanytimes...

Sorry, I digress. If you generally look after your stuff, you'll be fine. If you're giving up smoking, don't get this watch.

YOur concern is about the post i made. The crown is fully out just for picture taking. I can assure you this has been in my hands, and the hands of the person doing the mods and I can assure you that we would never sell a watch that has a questionable crown.

After setting the time on the 183, I have found that if you gently push in the crown and turn it counter-clockwise until you feel the first thread and then gently push it in again turning clockwise to tighten it, you will minimize the risk of damaging the threads on the 183.

"Nice?"

He has the totally bloody unobtainable Coronation Coach... and all you can say is "nice"?

That made me ROTFLOL!

Love it.

I also have a set of about 120 MB cars in great condition from around 1971-1980.
