HI

I had the Chopard GTXL for a while now

Its a great rep and gets a lot of wrist time.

I wonder anyone has put on a alternative strap for this watch.??
( where to buy it as well )

tnx

Tough call guys. Lots of people have this watch and I can't remember seeing one different strap.

I am getting a black one and the first thing I am doing is tossing the tire strap. I think I will try a real thick Breitling style leather with the bold white or red stitching.

I am thinking probably 22mm lugs, which would be perfect for all the Breitling bands. Is it 22mm lugs?

Yes. 22mm.

I received the two straps that I ordered. This is the one that I am wearing on it now:

This is Strapped For Time's stock photo. I'll try to get around to shooting and posting a picture of the same strap on my GT later today.

For the price it's a pretty nice strap. I had to soften it up a bit, but I do that to almost every leather strap, even the more expensive and thicker Pam ones. I also got the Hirsch Rallye, but haven't tried it out yet. If I have time I'll switch straps and post a pic of that combination as well.

Thanks Jkerouac, There are some good options at 22mm. I would be interested in seeing it on the GT. It is a very different watch from the typical Breitlling or IWC sportwatch in this lug width.

How do you "soften" up your straps? Do you just work them by hand or do you treat them with something?

To soften a strap, I simply roll it back and forth lengthwise a few times to speed up the time it takes for the leather to conform to my wrist. No elaborate rituals.

I also purchased a dark green strap from them for my Evo. I had been wearing a burgundy red strap that came with the watch, which I really like. But the dark green is richer looking.

You are absolutely correct about the difference in watches. Even though the lug width is the same, I couldn't see putting either of the Breitling straps on the Chopard, nor either of the straps that I boutght for the Chopard on the Breitling. I can't speak to the IWCs, though.

I just recently ordered two straps from Strapped For Time and Freda watchstraps. I was very pleased with the selections and the service I recieved from both. I really appreciated the free push bar tool.

Was it not TWP that posted a picture of a GTXL on a beautiful brown strap. It looked awesome.

I have the picture on my harddrive, but I am not at home right now. Maybe someone else has it?

it does take a bit of culture to appreciate fine things, indeed.

(if you don't know your ray from your Galuchat, of course…)

Well, it gets an A for originality. It has an interesting scuba/underwater kind of look to it. It is kind of a deco-diver watchband.

A dress watch....something that came with a tire tread strap is not a watch made for exotics you would find on a very high end dress watch...
