Another variation of my SLOB

My SLOB bronzo has gone through many iterations since I first received it from DSN two years ago. Since it is bronze and not dlc coated it will always be a fantasy watch. I finally have the case aging the way I want and have been loading different dial combos. This is the latest using one of DSN's old 082 dials. It looks like something from an old ship and for me blue always works with watches that go to the beach.

very nice patina going on there ..

something about bronze that makes a watch so distinctive ... wear it in good health

Congrats with this very nice build! Not an accurate rep of course, but I feel it is more in line with Panerai's heritage than a lot of the modern releases.

Thanks to all for the positive comments. It goes without saying that a bronze luminor case is certainly a fantasy considering that the only one I am aware of being produced was the SLOB. That beautiful bronze case was never seen since it was covered up with DLC. So all rules/requirements of accuracy go out the window. This really is becoming a homage to all the different cues I like from several panerai watches. Pre v case, fat crown guard, bronze, the blue of the 082, four liner dial, pre v hand profile, a smudge of Titanium, hand winder, major vintage feel. It's all good stuff in my book. I have many franken Rlx, Pam, IWC and Omega that follow the rules and are as accurate as I can afford to make them. This is a "I'm not gonna sweat the details" project. Just build what I like. In the end there is a ton of fun to be had there. Just trying to impress myself. (Hope you guys like it too!)

That's really nice. Don't be surprised if Panerai make that soon. Like they did with the 441 carbotech fantasy model and the 661

The Gunny strap really plays well with the overall build too.

This is DSN's old version of the 082 dial. He has a newer version that is sandwich lumed and even more attractive. I am thinking I need to order another...

A few more pics for fun...

I think a trip to the salt water and air would help add a little green to that patina.[emoji41]

That dial begs ...no...demands to be aged !

You mention that the bronze case was originally encased in DLC ...explain to this noob what DLC is.

Seems like a shame to cover a nice bronze case with anything other than a patina.

DLC stands for diamond like carbon coating. Looks like this....

Maybe I will pull the dial and lume it with vintage lume. A lemon custard color would be a nice contrast with the case.

That would be awesome ..

Why would they make a bronze case only to cover it up with something ..?

I read somewhere that bronze is porus and that the dlc was being used as a seal so the case would be waterproof.

Relumed this morning with a coat of Special K lume with a top coat of expresso stain. Not stark white anymore but makes for a subtle change.
