Another "held by customs" topic.

HI Guys!
Some of you know that i have orderd a 036 from Ruby, and now it finaly arrived. Just one problem: ON my TNT tracking it says "Held by customs, awaiting taxes and duties payment by reciver".
The questions is if any of you guys know if the customs will contact me to Pay (whatever it is) or shall I contact them?
I´m thinking it´s better to let them contact me?!?

depending o nCountry it could be that TNT will send you an invoice. It depends on the value which was written on the custom paper.

In the US the mailman collects, you dont pay, you dont get. At least thats been my personal experience.

...it will be TNT who will contact you or at least customs itself....you will get a nice letter asking for value and invoices of the purchased item and based on that they charge import taxes and additional fees....in all situations when taht happened to me I showd them what they were asking for and had to pay between 5 and 18 EURO´s....easy!

sold an item on ebay for 75 $....declared it as gift ...value 20 $...the buyer told the customs what he paid for it...IDIOT - and they charged him another 27%

I have already mailed Ruby to hear what "value" and if she wrote gift on it. Guess I know tomorrow/tonight.

don't think you will get an answer from Ruby,was in the same situation 2 month ago, ordered a bag for my wife, everything on customs paper was written in chinese, so I told them the value was 95 USD....at the end I got the bag and paid 45 EU to TNT. I send several mail to Ruby, never got an answer.
Let us see wht u get.

I hope they won't charge you too much for the watch...but i guess no matter what the seller put on the form, this is still up the the customs agent to determine the "value" of the item.

Here is the story: Got a letter from TNT and the want to know this:
1: How much i paid/the invoice
2: Details what´s in the parcel
3: Other payments of customs and moms

Either you prepare an invoice... or just forget about that watch. Gone... You'll get it if you pay umpteen duties.
