For a while I'd been considering offloading my early A23322 Navitimer rep (fitted with the 'venerable' 7753 @ 21.6k vph.) It simply didn't get any wrist time these days. :? The silvery sub dials being my main gripe...
After seeing Taka's conversion a few weeks ago, I too decided to try another conversion myself. Plus, I'd been contemplating about whether to buy a new blue dialled Navitimer rep. Yesterday, the gen dial landed in the post. I filed it down and swapped it over, no real problems except for the rep dials' peg snapping off in the calendar plate. This was pushed out from the other side. Thankfully an easy fix. I wouldn't have wanted to strip the movt down, or worse, glue the dial on, pegless!
While the movt was exposed, I added some oil to the visible jewels/bearings and greased up the o-ring.
After refitting everything in a rush (hence the slightly-off register hand and fibre on the dial), the BOB Midnight Blue strap was re-commisioned.
The date window doesnt bother me anymore, since the rep isnt perfect here either. I'm very pleased with it now, the watch has a few scars on it from wear and tear but has a new lease of life! Its now happily back in the watch box or on my wrist!
