It was only four or five years ago that you could pick up an Angelus SF240 mechanism for the cost of the vintage 8 Day travel or alarm clock that housed them, some as cheap as $100. Some of you will remember the incredible work done by Enzo (who was once a member of this forum) and others in creating vintage Panerai pieces with Angelus or Rolex mechanisms.
Here is an admittedly mint looking SF240 mechanism on eBay with bidding currently at $2700.

There are many members who have been lucky enough to get hold of an SF240 over the years and fit it into a vintage Pam project.
If you brought one back in the day, then it has turned out to be quite an investment!
