Doesn’t matter. Still a nice watch, whether its $4,000 or $400.
This is why I stopped buying real watches. Super reps are practically identical, you don’t feel bad if it breaks and you don’t have to wait a year to get one from an AD.

Oh, and if you end up getting robbed, the thief is in for a rude awakening….

What's interesting is that is appears to be much safer and more secure (due to strict rules and moderator attention) to buy or trade replica watches on RWI than to buy or trade gens on WUS...

Movement is a replica most likely.
Here is supposedly the real thing from 2016.
Here, here and number of other places have identical. serial number on the movement and the finish looks very much the same to my eyes.
So I'd say a franken.
Most GENs I have seen dont that 17. jewels but rather 17 jewels only !

However spacing is very good but writing not so crisp.

Im no detective, nor am I a Panerai expert, but gen movements can have (and some do) worse finishing from Panerai, than from Noob or whoever else.

Nice catch on the dot bro, didnt notice that.

I was gonna add the colour of the screws and the jewels, but that is all over the place due to lighting.

With the poor lighting it's difficult to tell if the screw bevels / jewel bevels and bridge edges are finished like gen (always an immediate tell for me).

The first things I notice after that are:

1. The swan neck arm base is rep - notice how the screws protrude past the edge of the arm base.
2. No movement stampings where they should be
3. The edge of the balance wheel does not appear to be polished

We're a sick bunch, aren't we....?

We can conclude this to be a franken build. Anyone who sells a franken as GEN is a scammer.
Furthermore the owner can easily tell if the movement is a REP by just winding it.

Juicy thread! Made for a nice read

The seller eventually showed up, and accused OP of swapping the movement. In order to do what, I don't know.. I guess get his watch back and steal the gen movement?

Another watchmaker went into that thread mentioned the same things as @Woundup so it looks like a rep movement

It's possible that the seller didn't even know what he had, but he acted pretty shady so I have my doubts. He was reading the thread and didn't reply for a long time, and eventually came up with a dumb accusation of his own.

Essentially with a GEN & high-end REP PAM one can build 2 very nice pieces.

Franken : GEN dial, GEN xtal & GEN strap combined with a REP case, REP hands and movement.

“GEN” : GEN case, GEN movement combined with a REP dial , REP xtal & quality custom strap + box and paper to prove authenticity.
In this case seller is a scammer!
