So, this pretty little thing arrived in the mail today with another Noob that i ordered from Sead. This is my first HF Pam and i actually lowered my expectations but i was awed by the quality the moment i held it in my hands.

However, my first impression was it felt a little too light compared with my Noob 111. Even my KW 390 felt heavier. Not much, but you can feel a significant difference while holding both watches in each hand. This could be due to the 'cheaper' steel that HF may be using for their cases.

The new case set is seriously good. Putting aside the slightly sharper edges and higher bezel lip (again could be due to the sharp edges, thus giving an impression of a higher bezel), the mid case is nicely shaped and the part i love most are the lugs. Very similar to gen and screw holes are near to the edges which i prefer (more genlike). Imo, lugs are better shaped even if we were to compare it with V4 Noob. Lug distance to the mid case edge is also fantastic. Seeing this for the first time makes me feel that HF did a better finishing on their case compared to Noob ones. Another thing worth noting is the AR coating. Could be a placebo effect but i think the crystal on HF is a lil tad clearer. Anyway lets move on to the pictures:

Here comes my favourite part; the dial. First thing i did was to look for the 'gen like' recessed lumes and voila, it did come with the updated version. It is also worth noting that the dial comes with the correct black colour. There were wrong versions in brown col-our produced by KW and other facts if i am not mistaken. As for the pig, it is nicely done, very defined. My bad photography skills failed to picture them. The only thing i think could be improved is the finishing on the crown guard. Not really a fan of its finishing but not a problem as modding is part of my plan. The lever is also not as tight and steady compared to my V3 111. I did some disassembling and found out that Noob has a thicker crown pin, thus making the lever tighter. Not really sure how to improve that part as the only method i found was using glue gun but i find that method, well a little barbaric lol.

I don't get the whole lighter weight thing. It'll be made from an austenitic stainless steel, likely a grade of 316, much like a genuine watch. The densities of all austenitic grades fall within a band of 0.6%, so unless the movement is made from a much lighter material than other movements (unlikely considering manufacturing implications), it is probably psychological.

Spanking watch though, I just got an H 415.

Thanks kampachi !
Nice review showing clearly the quality of this watch. Good pics of sausage dial showing clearly the good lume structure and of case set showing fantastic CG and nice case.

IMO the best PAM boutique so far

What a nice evolution on rep sausage dials this year 2015 !!
We didn't expect that !

And the evolution on rep Luminor Bettarini 44mm casesets is impressive. CGs are awesome too
New H maker has even sharper edges (nicer IMO, but a bit inaccurate) than gen but the finish and appearance is parallel to gen. The base of the bezel seems also a bit higher but the sharper transition edge of the bezel can emphasize the difference.

We should reconsider our current collections of PAMs.
Expensive year !!

I love the case, but not the crown guard. Did some re-brushing and light chamfering and modded the pin to the correct gen like look. To get a proper chamfering around the pin is no easy task. Steady hands is a must!

By the way, do NOTE that H-fac CG's come with loose lever, or should i say not as steady as Noobs due to their thin crown pin. I did a simple mod to it and now it is as steady and tight as a gen :)

I've also soften the edges of the case. Pics will come later :)

Thanks! and good choice. Im selling off mine soon though... the sausage just doesn't get as much time as the sandwich :0

Sorry, what do you mean by that? I'm new to the pam world. I know mine has a sausage dial (still reading through ALE's guide)

So, finally got some time to update some pictures. Well, basically i did a full teardown, serviced the tanky movement, soften the edges and reworked the entire crown guard. I dislike the h-fac cg the most as it lacks the finishing that gen or noob cgs have. Let the pictures do the talking :)

One way to see if the edges have been soften is to spot the reflection on the bezel. Instead of a straight one, you will notice a S shaped reflection.

Gave the CG a nice tiny chamfer.

Another picture of the nice dial. You can clearly see the new method of lume application over here.

Thanks kamp , interesting pics
Since you have already removed the dial, could you take more macro pics of lume application (even more angled pics) and with different lighting conditions in order to see better this lume application
That would be very appreciated and helpful
Thanks in advance

Sorry mate, this pic was long ago and i just had time to post it. Anyway, i can say attest that the lume application is pretty flat but not recessed. Just that H Factory's application method has a 'border' surrounding the lume therefore giving it the gen like appearance. Under the loupe i can say they are two different things but with the rough eye it looks very good and gen like-ish.

Yes Ale, and it depends on your luck too. Some of them might come slightly sausaged while some is flat.
