Hello everyone,

I've seen a lot of threads on this topic, however, many opinions differ, so let's clarify this.

Traveling with a replica watch - wearing one piece for personal use (more common watch model - Rolex Oyster Perpetual silver). The final destination is Spain and Italy, but I am interested in the case of any other country.

Is there any chance of facing a problem (Airport Security / Customs) in such a case, regardless of the airport? Thank you fellas.

If you’ve seen lots of threads on this and opinions differ, I am curious, what made you think that asking the same question again will give you different results?
Because most people who asked a similar question traveled with more watches, 2+ reps. I am asking about the personal use of one piece of watch.

I'm sure someone will be along very shortly with an exhaustive list that clarifies exactly what to expect when passing through the airport security/customs of every country in the world.

Although given that every thread offers different opinions on the matter, you may or may not choose to believe their advice. So...

I know a guy who knows a guy who is best friends with a neighbour of a cousin of Tony from Noob and he told me that they are now training dogs to sniff out rep watches at airports, so think twice guys before travelling with yours.

Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.

In fact, if it’s Spain, and especially Italy, the cops are going to be far more interested in the breasts / legs of the women in front / behind you than your little replica watch.

After reaching Italy and passing their security you will be moved to smc (Sicilian mafia customs) they will gently check value of all your belongings so probably your watch will be confiscated

This looks like a fairly innocent question that is undeserving of a series of snarky answers. Perhaps the commenters are bored today.

No mate, perhaps you’re bored, because that question has been answered numerous times with no clear conclusion.
So maybe you’re just bumping your post count?
Surprise, I'm aghast, I just got snarked.🤣

Wearing a watch- rep or gen - through customs is a non-issue.

Maybe..just maybe... If it looked brand new they may want to see if you have a watchbox in your luggage thinking you were trying to avoid taxes- but thinking that your average custom worker knows or cares about your watch is paranoia. It is not illegal to wear a datejust anywhere in the world.

If you're wearing an OP, no one is going to be in the slightest bit interested in you, in the airport or anywhere else. In fact you're likely to get pulled out of line for your weird behaviour as you desperately try to get someone, anyone to notice you've got a Rolex on.

If on the other hand (see what I did there?) you wore a Yacht-Master II then maybe you'd attract attention - and you'd also deserve everything you got.

Especially if you are wearing a YM2 wearing the unfortunate attire toting the unfortunate baggage of the average air traveler these days...

Thank you mate, and all of you. Can anyone ever have problem, taxes avoiding (custom/security) with things that are for personal use. + in the case of watches, even travelling without a watchbox? After all, it is for our personal needs. I never thought that it could be a problem.

No. Can you imagine if everyone coming through customs would have to make a customs declaration for a watch?! Exactly - it does not happen.

Do not worry about it - you will be fine

The ONLY time I've ever read about issues with taking/wearing watches in/out of any country was in an article by a journalist who worked on a watch review site, and discussed the problems he'd had travelling into Switzerland for an annual watch expo. There, apparently, you'd better have your receipts handy for any watches about your person, or you'll get taxed the retail value on the spot.

That's it. I've never read of any other problems.

(Does anyone know why the text formatting tools aren't working? I really miss being able to use bold and italics...)

It's not an issue.

Why wouldn't they stop every woman wearing a diamond ring or necklace if that were the case? It is no different.

If you are wearing a watch on your wrist- don't even think twice about it. I bet 500 Rolex wearers pass through security of every major airport every day. It's just jewelry. Now, if your have three Daytonas with stickers on them in your carry on- it is a different story.

I remember that. He also had a bunch of watches on him for review, which were new and not his. Anecdotal, but I also heard that the journalist was a pugnacious jerk - which wouldn’t have helped.

No problems with formatting tools Pops. Maybe you need a new Mac.
