Guys,

I need your advice what asking to mention on the custom declaration on a FEDEX shipping from the UK to Hungary.

Whath might be the best option?

The watch is a modded PAM (of course rep).

The seller recommends to mention "watch repaired and returned to sender". What do you think? Isnt too risky?

I know there is not too high risk with the shipping within the EU but the devil never sleeps and I want to be as sure as possible.

Thx.

Say a broken timepiece if you are really worried.
Also a little note immune inside and if requested declare a low value.
Shouldn't be a problem really.
Or you could just write what buyer wants you to. As it will be on him

I've had watches come from US and Singapore and they both been labelled broken time piece.
In terms of customs they I think are more concerned with declared value.
However from Hungary to UK you shouldn't have a problem.

From UK to HUN..

I really dont know.. I'm just thinking abut how risky is to mention that is a timepiece inside.

If they are opening it I' in trouble: confiscation..

Create an email correspondense, mail him, your watch ( you have bought from him ) is damaged.
The watch was imported by you due a trip by airplane tu HU ( that is legal ).
Send anything to him ( to have a postal bill ).
Tell him to put a bill with 15 USD for repair into the parcel.
When customs grabb your parcel, you have
1. Email correspondense
2. A bill for sending thewatch back for repair.
3. A bill with costs for that repair.

German custom is so strange, that was a trick I've done with a watch from china.
The watch was really damaged. and I've sent it back and it returned without problems.
I received another watch from china and used the documents for this one, because they opened the parcel and invited me to come to their office.
LOL, I was able to bring all mail copies and bills. It was really not the watch that was lying on the officers desk, but I stayed cool and managedf it that way.
I went home from the custom office without paying extra or loosing the watch.
Believe me, that works.

Since when do you need to fill a customs form when shipping within the EU. Never had to do that.

If receiving watches from the UK I always let the sender use "Signed for". It is trackable and there is no need to fill out a customs form.

There is a logic to putting 'watch parts' or 'broken watch for repair/spares' because that's exactly what they will see when they X-Ray it (which they will). It looks less suspicious compared to hiding it in something else and declaring that!

If you separate the strap / buckle / watch head and package them all separately in the parcel then it will look more like parts than a complete watch.

I've also had just 'watch' or 'accessories' on stuff from china and had no problems (shipping to the UK, that is).

As we don't really know how strict Hungarian customs is, I'd be tempted to do what Uwe suggests above, using email accounts that you don't use for any other forum / watch stuff. Definitely don't use the email account linked to your paypal! lol

As far as I know, you don't need to fill a custom declaration form if you ship within EU. I've received several packages from Pixmania with UPS and they never fill a customs declaration form. BTW, Pixmania is in France and I am in Cyprus.

If I am correct, packages travelling with EU, they don't pass through customs office.

Yes, this might be the way.

Thx for all your comments. I will come back when the transaction is finalized.

Oh hello... No one thought about it that there are no customs checks in shipments frim within the EU??????

So a custom declaration on the fedex form is not needed. Then i would not name the content of a watch. And besides most often jewelry is not insured with the normal shipping.

So could be a big discussion here about nothing ... :)
