Advice from one noob to another.

Hi, I'm a watch enthusiast from Ireland, I've been on this forum now for just over a month. My best advice is read more ask less.
Almost every question you can think of in the first week or two has been answered already.

The wealth of knowledge is like nothing I've experienced elsewhere. I'm reading and learning every day.

I've purchased a few reps, I just have to wait for them all to arrive, I'm very excited about getting them.

If I have one piece of advice that I can give you it's this. The Advertisements are a pain, pay the money and become a supporter, it's worth it, you will feel more part of the community, you will not regret it and most importantly you are helping keep the community going, these forums with the volume of information that has to be processed and stored are not cheap to run.

Just imagine if lack of funding took all this information away!

Thanks for the post! eBoy was ready to chew me up and spit me out because I used some incorrect vernacular in my first thread. Luckily I had done the "more reading" part and figured I'd have to get the first post jitters out of the way haha.

There really is such a wealth of information here and I keep reading new information about watches and horology in general. I'll definitely take the advice given here and become a supporter next payday. We certainly can't have a community of like-minded individuals without all of us making contributions to the community as a whole.

You did what 98% of noobs refuse to do: Read up on the mere basics.

Everything else will now be pure fun and joy, because the real knowledge is acquired through debates, discussions, actual purchases, writing / reading reviews etc. etc. etc.

The things is, you won't get to this point without investing 1 or 2 stupid hours of reading up on the essential information to get started. Some noobs act if we demand they work on a 3 year degree on "replica studies", when in reality it's just reading the rules and a few pages of guidelines, basic instructions and introductions. That's it. There's not even a test you have to pass.

One day we will need a psychological evaluation into what makes people post " I will update my purchase here " threads. Like any of us give 2 squirts about that. I guess it takes more effort to do a meaningful review of a TD with pictures of the watch and an educated timeframe. Much easier to vomit a daily timeline.

As a noob and someone who started a thread like that, I do plan on doing some of the more time intensive posting. I just figured it helps to have all the feedback out there and it seemed like as good a place as any to dive in.

You never know when someone else might hit the exact same issue you're faced with but may not be armed with the same knowledge since they didn't read. Then again, if they didn't read they might not even read my thread lol

As to which is better is a pointless question to ask....

Which car brand is better? Lamborghini or Ferrari? Do you think that asking such a question on a car forum would help you to make a purchase decision for a certain model? Or wouldn't you instead read up on the Ferrari and then on the Lamborghini to compare them yourself and then make a decision?

What is it about replica watches that so many people ask the "who makes the best..." question instead of what they would normally do with literally any other product?

The information is right in front of you. Don't be lazy, read, absorb, process the information that is freely available and you will answer your question yourself. Because what is better is a matter of simple opinion formed out of YOUR OWN conclusions, and not a matter of what is written on a stone plate hidden in the secret holy cave of replica wisdoms that only Patrons of RWI with 38 years of membership have access to. Seriously, read... Just read! There's a gazillion pages of free, but still very valuable information on RWI that you do NOT have to read all, thanks to the search function.
