had a good conversation with sales person, offered me a OP or an Explorer there and then. So it looks like what a lot of the utube pundits are saying is happening regarding less desirable models becoming available. Although SP said the most desirable are still unobtanium for most, like two decades wait time.

That's what the AD's do.... You go in looking for a Submariner and they will offer you an OP or Explorer to build a history with them. You then keep touching base with them about the availability of the Submariner you are still wanting. They inform you that there are a few DJ's available if you want to come in and have a look.

It ends up costing 20K CDN for two watches you don't really want to maybe getting the opportunity to spend 14K on the one you really want. Might as well just find a grey dealer that has a new one and spend 16K or 17K CDN.

Indeed, I had drawn that very conclusion, however on previous visits to other ad’s, there was no offer of a watch there and then at all. I do want an OP as a weekday wear although I am holding out for a green dial. I agree that paying grey market for a desirable watch would be the way to go, instead of hosing money in the hope of a steely gmt etc. I did not think that way a while back but if i absolutely had to have a specific watch grey is the way.

is Rolex honestly unavailable to keep up with production? Or are they trying to inflate prices?
