I have cracked the acrylic lens on my Dennis Rudy FF and need to source a replacement. I contacted Dennis who only lives a couple of hours away and he wants $25 for the lens and another $50 to install. Is that reasonable? Ive never had any services done for any of my watches so not sure what repairs should cost.

both prices sound steep.

An acrylic crystal from sternkreuz is about $6
Using a crystal press takes ~10mins.

Depends on your opinion, if 10mins of work is worth $50.

oops, sorry, I didn't read properly:

I noticed that you are quoting from the original manufacturer of this.

Price worth depends on a few factors:
1. Are the crystals original manufacture? Where does he get the crystals? if they are self manufactured then it may be worth the $25. Otherwise no way.
2. Is he working in a super sterile/workshop environment? ie. an actual watch workshop? How is his QC, will he do checkups? Simply replacing the crystal can be done with any person with a small amount of reading. If I had a crystal press I could do it myself.
