The problem is that in the last years, the replicas have reached an outstanding level. You basically cant tell them apart unless you really know what you are looking for.
Replica watches USUALLY have the following problems

1. The crystal has a blue tint from the AR coating. Genuine panerai watches always have colorless AR coating.
2. The crown guard doesn't sit nicely to the case.
3. The crown guard has rounded inner edges.
4. The font/numbers are off.
5. The lume is weak.
6. The cannon pin is not flat and/or polished.
7. The swan neck screw is sometimes SHORT.
8. The swan neck DOES NOT TOUCH THE DAGGER.
9. The incabloc shape is wrong

Most of those problems have been solved in the last couple of years, so if that's what they are looking for they are in trouble...

To be fair this forum isn't a closed underground organization either. It's only among the first results in Google if not the first when searching for any fake watch vs gen tells. Anyone who knows how to use a search engine and wants to find this info can find it, same way me and you did.

How can it not be? Lots of posts in the PAM section...

? absolutely love the 114, but spending a lot of time in here unfortunately made me notice some imperfections at first sight... For example the numbers are a bit away from the edges, and the markings...

As you can see, everything is a little bit thicker, and from what i can tell, the number 3 is a little bit off.

?f anything, this does not look even like a 1950 case. It has straight lines and curves, like a modern case.

Well, with the pictures provided so far...

But in the last picture it looks near perfect.

For now would say that the dial is NOT original, but I also believe that the pictures we have right now can be misleading.


I would like to make a fair comparison before deciding.

In any case, i say that this is a sweet dial, and I absolutely love it. Definitely super rep material.

I just regained my faith for a good 114.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they are one in the same.

I did not use 111n or RWI in my search terms, I used a bunch of common search terms somebody would use containing: panerai, 111, differences, fake, original, vs, comparison, forum etc. Most of the results had RWI on the first results page.
Even somebody who has a gen 111 and wants to find the differences between different gen 111 series will stumble upon replicas and this forum. Just search for "Panerai 111 differences", it has RWI, RG, RWG and RWGForum on the first results page.
I also imagine that most of the people who have a gen or planing to buy a gen will want to see an picture of the watch. If you go on Google Images and search for Panerai 111, images from replica forums and dealer stores are popping up like mushrooms.
Can't believe you haven't noticed how spread fake watches are all over the internet, for me it's pretty annoying sometimes cause I try to find some pics of a gen watch using gen terms and all I can find are replica pictures.
