Hi All,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 569 but would like some advice on movement (7750 or Seagull) and TD.

Thanks for your knowledge and experience.

Cheers

Regarding TDs, you will have to do the selection yourself, they each have their own particular way of operations but any one you choose should be able to get the watch for you plus you are protected should anything go awry.

7750 would be my choise. There is a thread about seagull movements written not so long ago. Search it and you'll find out why.

If we have to judge a movement from the written negative threads...
Do you imagine how many threads (unfair IMO) can have in forums against A7750 ???. A7750 is the most attacked movement ever. Please note I'm saying UNFAIR negative threads.

Anyway, Seagull NON-inverted is not only more accurate but also cheaper and even reliable.

Watchsmiths can even buy cheap complete Seagull or similar (50-60$) to GET PARTS for repairs, if swapping is difficult or not possible.

Seagull would be my option without doubts due to accuracy, reliability and PRICE.

+1000. I would go with Seagull as well as I do not really believe the reliability of the a7750 on PAMs. And the price is definitely cheaper too, even only slightly. Goodluck OP

My points for 7750 are:

Easy to work with
Easy to get parts (most watchsmiths have them in their drawer)
Easy to maintain
Original Swiss design is one of the most reliable movements ever done.
Accuracy.

I've had few A7750 and they all have been very good with no or just minor problems. I had one Seagull and it was crap, really. Low power reserve (20h), very stiff crown action, low amplitude 221 dec. ( I rejected first one since amplitude was only +190 dec.) desent time keeping though but only when fully wound.. BUT this is only and of course ONE movement and my experience only, but it was enough for me to keep away from them. And what I've heard Seagull is a nightmare to work with if (when) one needs to fix or maintain them.

OK
I respect your opinion and your own and only experience
This is an endless discussion without a serious comparison and study

This is actually really good to know, as there are a few PAMs with the choice between an A7750 and a seagull. Having a movement with part more easily available is a huge bonus, especially with a chronograph movement. This is something I've been considering for a bit

As always, good info ALE

I bought my first seagull and I have to say it runs like a top. No issues and no complaints.

Both are good and reliable options.
PaMister and Strodda before him made some valid points in favour of the 7750 indeed.
Nonetheless the seagull has proven reliable so far, I read very few posts complaining about it and the one I have is working fine, thus I prefer to invest the 100 usd I save on the watch price in a nice strap :)
