A8F vs GF Santos

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum but certainly not new to rep watches. I'm trying to get my buddy into reps and he is interested in a Cartier Santos 35mm.

I did some research and found a lot of positive feedback regarding the GF version but curiously couldn't find any info on the A8F version. As there is only a $40 dollar difference in price, I suggested for him to just get the GF because it is more well-known and highly regarded. It seems like Hont is the only TD currently selling the A8F version which is even more strange. I am intrigued as to why this might be. Does anyone have any experience or opinions on the A8F Santos? I would love to hear what you have to say!

3KF and BVF also make 35mm versions. Most, if not all, TD's will be able to get you a watch from whichever factory you desire. Some TD's just dont list every factory and every configuration on their websites. Best to contact them through whatsapp or email. Just make sure you only follow the links and contact info found here on the forum, there are many scam sites that impersonate TD's, so simply googling "puretime" or "hontwatch" or the likes is a bad idea.

IMO the two to look at for 35mm are 3KF and GF. I havent seen a single A8F purchased or discussed anywhere, but the flaws, quality, QC etc of the other factories have been discussed ad nauseum in the Santos thread here, and on various Reddit threads.


GF is by far the most popular but I'd wager to say that its probably just a result of being early to market. I'll be grabbing a 35mm 3KF from Hont soon myself. IMO the GF issues dont seem worth the allegedly slightly better feeling bracelet.
