A8F aquaracer quartz chrono

Hi all,

I noticed these on Trusty a while back but haven’t heard much from the TH experts here. What’s the verdict regarding similarity to the gen? Anyone owned one and handled the gen?

For the price it could be good as a daily watch.

I do not know much about that one in particular.

There used to be one that was made with an ETA quartz movement, same as gen.

The only issue I see with this one is that the VK movements have the useless 24hr subdial that shows the hour of day in 24hr format. It would be the only tell, as the gen would have that subdial reset to zero when not in use.

There's two variations on these. There's an older variant that uses the same Swiss Ronda movement as genuine so it functions completely the same as the genuine. I have one of these. This newer one that was released uses a VK movement so visually it looks good. Although you have the subdial at 6:00 moving incorrectly while it's normally running and of course the functions as chronograph will be completely different. I can of course not speak to the build quality of these new releases. However, the one I own has very high build quality. I definitely would recommend one of them as a good addition to any collection. For reference, I'm posting below a picture and gif of mine running and resetting to see how it works with the genuine movement. I am curious how the build quality will be on these once some of the members receive them. The price of this variant is lower than the one with the Swiss movement so hopefully that does not translate over to poor fit and finish.

Well yours already has a better date wheel font than this A8F variant

I know OF is the go to for TAGs but interested to see how this factory compares.

The old one that is shown by rx4time is NWBIG... the one on trusty is terrible! The date and bezel both crap. Original Factory makes best Tags these days. Some older Tag makers were also quite nice.

Yeah, after handling the gen I decided not to go for it. I’m specifically after a quartz Tag but unfortunately a good rep of them doesn’t exist. I’ve got an OF Breitling Endurance Pro and it’s NWBIG but I can’t seem to find something similar with Tag.
