Hello guys :)

So I bought a PAM 087.
As you may now it has a modified 7750 with the chrono module removed, or at least that's what I'm told.

Right out of the box the watch seemed to be working fine, but once on the wrist I noticed it was randomly stopping. The second hand stopped in a different position each time.
After inspecting it I noticed the movement stops running only when the crown is facing down. That was until today, when the watch won't run at all, no matter the position.

Any idea what could be wrong? I would really like to avoid sending the watch back to China...

That goes back to the old saying, you get what you pay for. It is certainly true with these Chinese replicas. Its all a gamble. Get yourself a vintage Swiss chronograph off eBay and be done with it.

Will it be as simple though as replacing the movement with a swiss one, remove the chronograph module, get suitable dial hands and possibly the right date wheel?

There is no date in this specific model.
I had a few 7750s and this is the first that has issues, I'll have fixed if I can otherwise I'll just send it back.

Sounds like geartrain is binding against something inside when crown was facining down, now it stopped completely movement will need watchsmith service.

I was under impression 7750 without chrono is reliable with sec.@9, when clean and oiled. Sorry to hear this kilo, I have the same watch coming, and it will be my first 7750.

Just a bad luck of the draw. I've had tons of 7750's with sec @ 9 and they've all been great. If you think it's a keeper, put a Swiss movement in it! :)

In the end I preferred to send it to Domi for service. Hopefully it's not a big issue.
Anyway my other 7750s proved reliable so far and one lemon only won't stop me from buying more :)

Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago -- 087 arrived and DOA. Didn't hear anything rattling or grinding and everything else functioned fine (setting the time & date). Shook it like a madman off and on for an hour and then sent it right off for service. I'll be very interested to hear what the issue is once its opened up ...

Sorry to hear that Kilo. :(

I'll have to disagree, at least for me it is totally opposite. I had many reps (probably over 50) since I'm here and I had to send 3 watches on a service. One arrived DOA from TD (AP Diver), another arrived faulty because seller lied and got no saled because of that (Chronopassion) and one broke after few months so actually it's not that much of a gamble with reps and they are, at least in my case, really reliable watches and can last for years without need of a service.

Thanks again. Just sent him an email insted. Hope I can get it sent off and back on the wrist soon. It really is a great looking watch. For all those reading this thread don't let a couple bad experiences deter you from buying it.

Replied :(

Unluckily I sent the watch to Domi this morning, but I am happy I can thank you in public for such a kind gesture. RWI at its best :)

Sometimes I wonder if people are reporting their own poor experiences with the asian 7750s because you sure read a lot of them!

For sure I didn't start a thread for the 8-10 other 7750s i had that have been working fine. That's why you read of poor experiences more often ;)
