Hey guys,

I want a KW312O, but I have a choice between a A7750 movement or ST2555. Obviously, the ST2555 is visually more accurate, but which is more reliable? Is it hard to find parts (or a replacement) for the st2555 if it dies? Thanks!!

I dont remember where i read it, but i read that the ST2555 is a more reliable movement. That may be because A7750 can create additional friction by having seconds at 6/12, but for non chrono pams i dont see why a7750 is not a reliable movement.

I have a KW 388 V1 with St2555 and a KW 359 V1 with A7750 - both run great with no problems. Date changes the same on both of them.

Honestly - Since it is non chrono, i dont know why the A7750 would be considered a riskier movement - but with the lower cost and closer to gen appearance, i would go for the ST2555 if I were you.

Plus for reps with the P9000 movement, the ST2555 balance wheel is placed at 6 o'clock, compared to 11 on the A7750. This is closer to the gen placement of @7. It still isn't a P9000 clone, but at least the balance wheel doesn't give an immediate tell from a first glance. :)

+1 ST2555 movement is better in terms of balance wheel placement and also cheaper.......so why not? Go for it.

I'm not really familiar with the ST2555 but I will say that the A7750 movement, less the chrono functions seems to be an excellent time keeper and very reliable. I've always been impressed with the time keeping abilities of all my chrono movements, even when the chrono functions all seem to break.

I have several non-chrono 7750's with seconds at 9 as in many Pam's. They have been tanks for me. You just have to follow the few simple rules that apply to all 7750's. Don't manually change the date with the time any where near when the automatic date changer is engaged, I usually stick to about 6:30am. I never hand wind a single one of mine. I swirl them to get the rotor turning and get them started, put them on my wrist, and go.

I have plenty of A7750's and I have had issues with the chrono functions, but they always kept time well. I currently have a pam 243 v2/3 and a noob 299O, both with A7750's and they both function well and when/if they go awry my local watch smith can service them. I have heard mostly good things about the st2555, but if it does have an issue can the movement serviced or easily replaced???
