A7750 appreciation thread

So I have a watch with the A7750 movement myself, have still less than 48 hours with it but spent quite a lot of time reading on the movement before getting the watch and... with problems being more commonly reported than when the movement has been working like a tank, I thought we should have a thread to talk about the times where the A7750 has been great.

How do you like the A7750 movement in general?
Do you have a chrono function, do you make use of it?
Where's your secs subdial, @3 @6 @9?
Or do you have a PAM with a 7750 that doesn't have the chrono module and has secs @9?
How long has your movement lasted, serviced or not?
Modifications to your movement, franken with ETA parts?
Dropped, banged, abused your watch in any way but movement still worked fine?
Problems that have randomly been sorted out by itself?
Does your favourite watch have a 7750 movement in it?

Do share so we have a good idea of how good the movement has been and if it had any improvements since years ago!

I purchased an IWC rep with the A7750 just after joining the forum (7 years ago). I inspected the movement upon receiving from a TD, movement was clean and I regulated the timekeeping to within 5 secs per day. To this day it continues to run within 5 seconds per day when worn. Use the chronos on occasion with no issues. I'd have to agree the movement is a tank if properly clean when assembled!

I personally dislike them and have had multiple problems with probably a half dozen of them in various watches. What I really dislike is that half the people on the forums that say they can properly service them are full of crap. I've had more than one that I had to send back to the smith more than once and never got them working 100% or they only lasted a couple of months before screwing up again. The only forum smith that I found who was really good with 7750 movements unfortunately no longer works on reps.

But, I did just buy a new 7750 movement from an eBay seller that arrived today and first impression is excellent on the timegrapher. Plus, the new movement was cheaper than getting an old movement serviced. So far I'm very impressed. Maybe I'll get back with some pictures and info this weekend if I have time.

Yep, a movement swap is definitely in order. Hoping for the best.

Me too let me know how it goes, those movements looked super clean in the stock photos on the bay.

One thing I really like about these movements is they come with a dial and cheap handset installed plus the plastic case is made specifically for the A7750 movement for easy testing. I've been able to test all the chrono functions and date change and everything is working properly.

Here's a picture of the movement on the Timegrapher about 1/2 wound. Fully wound it's running at about 23 sec/day and the amplitude is over 290 which seems pretty good for a 7750 movement. Since I usually set my movements to run on the plus side I think I'll leave it be until after I get a chance to install and wear it for a few days.

New movement installed and working great. The chrono's work and re-set perfectly and winding is smooth and easy, unlike most of the rep 7750 movements I've had. I must say this seems to confirm my theory that the rep factories buy all the movements that don't pass QC checks from the factory.

One minor problem is the second sub dial hand came of the tube so I've had to put on a different spare hand until I order the correct one or find a way to re-fix the tube back to the hand. A typical problem with crap rep hands.

KBH Did you swap in an asian clone movement or a swiss one? Any problems with fitting hands onto the new movement? Date wheel incompatibility?
