A2824 Winder not holding any power?

I recently got a couple of DJ41s with A2824 movements.

One is running nicely with a power reserve after 40 turns and laying aside of 43 hours and a steady amplitude of 320 on my Timegrapher.

The other however after 40 turns runs for a maximum of 4 hours and the amplitude swings wildly between 140 and 220.; however if I start it off running and wear it all day it keeps good time until I take it off at night when it stops after a couple of hours idle.

It seems to me that manual winding does not affect the mainspring but that the autowind mechanism keeps the movement running nicely so long as it keeps moving.

I'm not technical enough to diagnose what is wrong but I've had a look inside and don't see anything out of place.
I did try to release the energy in the spring by moving the click but I didn't feel anything happened.
I feel I would be able to take off the automatic bridge screws but not competent enough to put it back on.

The disassembly and asembly stickies above are fantastic but I couldn't reseat those tiny screws on and old test movement I tried.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

thanks

Very likely the mainspring is broken or set. This would result in little or no power reserve when wound.

The autowinding assembly will continually wind the mainspring, so even if set it won't have time to fully release the power.

I bet if you replace the mainspring you'll be good to go.
