Was fairly quick on WhatsApp and the whole process was initially good, but I have been looking to sell this watch and realised he sent me the wrong model. I clearly ask for GMF and he sent me BPF and will not admit he made a mistake. I contacted him about it and he has been nothing but rude and blamed it on me.

I have included screenshots of the WhatsApp history.

Personally, I would choose a dealer with better communication and a more sophisticated ordering system. I would avoid Hont.

Not sure if I understand what the issue is here? He quoted you two prices, 368 for BPF and 428 for GMF. You paid 368 for a BPF but expected to get a GMF? That’s not how this normally works.

That's how it looks to me. Also looks like Hont said he'd order 3 watches, BP or GMF, whichever came first, and let you pick the one you liked best, which he did and you did. He quoted both prices, ordered the watches, you picked the one you liked, he confirmed it was BPF here:



For what it's worth, I believe BP and GMF are the same watch (same factory), GMF just uses (allegedly) 904 steel rather than 316. Since the watch is gold plated over the steel, there's essentially no difference but the price. Hont did you a solid and saved you from wasting money on a "gen" grade of steel that's buried under gold plating. 904 steel might be worth the extra cost on a stainless watch to the pickiest of buyers, but it's to no advantage on a plated watch.

Remember, too, these TDs are often not native speakers of anything but Chinese, so there's almost certainly going to be a bit of a challenge to make sure the communication is clear. Some are better than others, but check and double check every detail before you send money.

FWIW, I'm not a big fan of the Day Date, but that's a nice looking watch, and a good choice of color combination, if it's your thing.

Situation definitely sucks, but it does look like he expilicty told you each price in regards to each factory. That means that you're locking yourself in to the watch associated with that price, regardless of what factory you may have told him.

Honestly, is there much difference in the selling price of a 1 year old GMF vs BPF? Maybe a few bucks, if pristine, but negligible if well worn.

Do not ever post screenshots or private conversations again. Especially with TD bank details. Private conversations are meant to be kept that way: private.

Secondly, let me tell you, you handled it very poorly, you didn't communicate clearly and even threatened hont with going public on the forum. And now after a year you publish this? What for?

What I'm saying is (and without the context of the conversation is), I asked for one watch and he confirmed a different model without telling me. In hindsight, I should have been more diligent. I just wanted to post this as a lesson to others to double check what you are ordering with him because his communication isn't clear.

English is your first language, or at the very least you have learned it at school. That’s not his case. It’s easy to mix things up during whatsapp convos.

Also that one transaction for you, and one of hundreds for him. So you are the one who has to pay attention.

The key formal points of evidence are the moment of the deal and the QC.
You paid the price* of the BPF and you GL the watch.

*(maybe you thought you were getting a great deal? Maybe you thought you screwed him)

So, in the eyes of most people here, you bear the final responsibility as both trigger points of the transaction needed a deliberate decision from you.

Dude, I cant belleve that a member of the site makes a post to issue a warning about a seller, who actually sold you what you paid for, and now after 12 months you decide you are not happy, and the only excuse I can see is to vent and with intent is to affect the sellers business.

Sorry mate, but the only words that come to mind is entitlement and privilege.
