A recomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

I know we have been talking about this ad nauseum for some time. Well at least D and I have. There is a major issue going on with the 7750s right now. They are blowing up left and right. The reason is not clear and based off some conversations I have had, probably never will be. I am asking, no I am begging. Please stop buying these until the problem has gotten better or at least until the current run of movements is out of circulation. If you absolutely positively have to have one then get a lowbeat. Or at the very least, make sure it has been completely serviced and checked from spring to stern. I'm sure some may disagree with me but I have had enough experiences at this point that it would be remiss if I didn't share my opinion.

Re: A reccomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

Thanks for the suggestion. This concerns me as I have just recently order a Skyland V3 from D4M. This is my first rep order and I intend on using this watch for daily wear. What would you expect the percentage of failures to be?

This is also a concern for me as I have a Skyland V3 that should be here any day. I have about three watches with high beat 7750's and so far so good.
This however seem to be a recent problem and all of my other watches that use this movement are all over 6 months old. " We shall see said the blind man"

Thanks for the heads-up fakey.
From your comments I take it that the cause of failure is either not consistent or nobody has been able to pin it down.

There appears to be no clear answer. And yes models from six months ago would not be part of this because those movements are actually a year old.

As always, your advice is well-founded and well-meaning. Thanks for looking out for the rest of us. [smilie=angel10.gif]

i just got my skyland v2 from D4M on friday

it seems to be working just fine so far *knock on wood*

hopefully the significantly more gifted persons on here can figure out whats going on and help all of us out :)

either that or its time to suck it up and buy a real 7750 :?

You'll be fine with the V2. It's the V3 that I have been getting the most chatter about. Sigh and still people are willing to chance it all for a lume dot and some fives. Five feet five feet. Suck it up and buy the V2 people.

News to me FM, I'm fairly certain that its been the V2 skyland that has had the issues. V1/3 has been problem free. Waiting for D4M to chime in.

Could've got the models confused since they're all bullshit advertised as 'Ultimate 1:1'

What I said still holds true. Buy the one that works and don't worry about the little things. Pretty don't matter if it doesn't run.

Anyway back on topic.

What's blowing up on these, the chrono module? Or is there no consistency in the failures either?

Re: A reccomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

would be great to hear any details since i just wanted to order a watch with that movement.....sigh

i have 2 asian 7750, they run great so far. rarely wear them, since i still love my simple Pams...with bullettproof 6497.

propably it would be smart to stick with these models...but hey, i like Breitlings as well.....

I own no chronos since I havent learned to work on them but I am thinking of getting one soon. Heard some say you're OK as long as you do not use the chrono functions but what good that. Plus how does the average schmo like me know which version the dealer will actually send?? Still sounds like a crapshoot with these movements.

Re: A reccomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

The biggest offender seems to be the 7750 in the V2 Skyland specifically. From what I hear, the problem is not chrono related, the watch will just stop running. I have heard instances where the movement can be revived by fiddling with the fine adjustment lever, but there is still obviously an issue with this particular movement.

Re: A reccomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

So to the experts out there, could it be the balance assy that's the cause of all the latest problems ie having to give it a good shake, fiddling with the adjuster etc? Seems reasonable to me...

As andreww said, he has heard of 'instances' where that has helped but it is not a guarantee. My opinion is why risk it? Just get the older models and you will be fine.

Re: A reccomendation for those looking to buy a 7750 auto

Thx for the info. Sounds lame :( When I started collecting reps, I avoided the 7750 as much as I could. Today I own more than 8 of these... The problem is that when you want the sexiest models, all are chrono with this movement inside...

Now, what will happen if those who know stop buying ? Those who don't know will get them... and every single defective assembled A7750 will be sold. That's just the rule of the rep game : no control, no possible complaint : just try your luck... :(
