So my dials arrived today. Check out all of this Gen Tritium goodness.

But, notice the 186 Dial or wait...Is this a 252 North Pole??? Isn't that supposed to be a Blue LSML dial, not a Black TSMT?

Dial from the 252I GMT...Definitely Luminova... Maybe Panerai mixed in a few T dials into their production run of the 252. But I can find any pics of other T Dials.

Back of the dial... Definitely Gen and definitely the 252 Mike Horn GMT dial. The 186H black dial is the only Panerai that uses a dial like this except it says "ARKTOS" not "NORTH POLE".

This will make a nice rare franken build.

Grim, you might have an actual dial that was used on the expedition. According to some p.com chat, tool watches like a 186 were authorized by Panerai to use tritium dials, because they trusted it. And if it was a watch used for something important like Mike Horns trip, it might very well have been somebody's watch. The mass production of the 186 uses regular lume, for obvious reasons. The 92 he wore was a t dial as well.

Very cool indeed.

The very first watches he used had tritium. I think spankster is right. ;)

This is AWESOME! Did you post something on p.com? Perhaps I should post some pics.

Apparently I confused myself. This is the "NORTH POLE" not the "ARKTOS". So this is the 252 dial, not the 186. Even more of a mystery now, because the 252 was only made for one year and the dial was a luminova blue anthracite. This, obviously is tritium black. I am starting to believe this idea that the expedition watches were black tritium.

How did you get the dials? Just order from Panerai? What did they end up costing?

These dials float around on the various Risti websites. You just have to keep your eye on them. They cannot be ordered from Panerai. They tend to leak out from people who have close access. Perhaps employees at service centers? I don't really know.

collecting parts...

No real option with the 252. Toro is selling this beauty from H Factory fo' cheap. The most obvious difference from gen on this watch is the hands. I am thinking about having some custom made:

REP

GEN

Then the 10A. I am doing a 6502 case build. This is one of the finest examples I have seen. This is an H factory V1

things are coming together nicely.

The stars are in a line on this build. If you noticed (or maybe not;) ) the hands on the rep are totally wrong. The cutout area between the lume and the base should be rectangular. This was bothering me....Bad. I was even researching having some hands custom made. Until I found the pam089E. It's a TI GMT Luminor from H Factory. The hands are nearly 100% accurate. Guess what was for sale in the parts section??? BOOM!

Came home from travel this week and had some parts waiting for me.

H factory V1 case. I had some time to burn so I removed the Hex tube and put in a DSN tube.

Some other parts I've got stacked up for the 10A build:
BigMatt C3
Sead A-F CG
DSN Crown
Jakob case back (incorrect millesimation, will upgrade later)

Also I'm on my 4th Set of QC pics on the 252...
First watch had a chipped bezel marker, second had a thin font date wheel, third had a crooked bezel... Nice
