Reps have gotten good. REALLY good. Its easy to forget as we view macro shots of dial text and lug shapes. Sometimes the best way to compare is to stand a foot away and view them side by side.

So in that spirit I had a very rare opportunity to do a side by side of the new VSF P.9000 super clone and the gen Panerai P.9000. Grab your popcorn and put down your macro lenses. It's time to appreciate just how good reps have gotten.

Okay, maybe a couple of macros ;)

And here's my favorite... the gen with rough edges around the jewel hole... LOL

And the rep with nicely finished holes

Very nice write up, Grim -- incredible to see how spot on the new rep movement is from a distance. And I'm sure there was a little bit of schadenfreude after seeing the dinged up jewel hole on the gen haha.

Thanks Grimlocktime, appreciate you sharing the comparo pics with us. Now we can all see how close is the clone movement and how far we came such long way "started from the bottom, now we here"

Well, I just need 5 seconds to spot the gen movement in this comparison.
BUT...you have to know where you have to look.
For the most guys outside of RWI it's really hard to see any difference and that's just sick.

Well done VSF!

And thanks for the pics grimlocktime

Excellent comparison @Grimlocktime . I guess there will be less "how close is the rep P.9000 to gen visually?" questions after this. :)

Hahahah, that was the intent :)

It doesn't take long to spot several differences. But on its own, from a foot away, wow, great work VSF!

Thank you @Grimlocktime for this comparison

Actually it's quiet close to the Gen. Movement

I am wondering why the real watches companies charge us that huge amount of money if the rep. Companies can produce such wonderful pieces

Well, there is some research which goes into making watches, something that rep companies don't have to deal with. But sometimes, luxury watch manufacturers merely put a premium above what they should normally charge, just to make their product seem highly desirable.

To understand why these watches cost so much, just take a look at all of the global boutiques, marketing programs, and tour the Switzerland campus, with loads of highly paid engineers and marketing professionals.

VSF does not have to worry about these things. They just need a 3D scan.

That's really, really nice @Grimlocktime !
Those rough edges around the Gen's jewels were the icing on the cake for me, awesome catch ;)
Truly hoping for a 531 though, with the a correct 24 GMT.
Cheers!

I truly don't understand how they can make a custom movement this nice and not take time to add the proper 12 hour gear. Maybe soon!

hey @Grimlocktime

VSF claims that their parts are interchangeable with Gen, did you manage to make any observations on whether if their hands and date wheel can interchange with the Gen?

Hi to everyone. Is there any update on hole hands size? On previous A7750 clone the second hand size is 0.20 (instead of 0.18 of Swiss one). Don't know if they have improved this as well.
