I was browsing around in the somewhat recent past and found this:
The most interesting thing about this watch is the "mini" case. It resembles a welded-lugs 3646, but instead of 47mm, it is only 44mm, and it is also very thin at around 12.5mm thick.
I previously owned a build from black_shark using river's welded lugs case, but found it much too big for my wrist. So when I found this homage from Hruodland, I picked one up with the intention of putting together a smaller version of the welded-lugs 3646. Here's the result.
The only things I did were 1. swap out the dial, 2. lightly age the hands using kilo's tutorial, 3. polish the Hruodland branding off the crown, 4. give the bezel a polish and 5. change out the strap. Overall very happy with how this one turned out.
If you're after vintage Panerai in a smaller form factor like I was, I think this Hruodland turned out to be an excellent base for an inexpensive project, although that will definitely depend on individual taste. There's no need to go mini if you're looking for a thick slab of manly watch metal for your bulging wrists, but this one feels much better to wear than the previous river's build I owned. It's about as thick as a Datejust, which proportionally feels quite thin. The quartz might be a sticking point but without a second hand, its not really possible to tell its quartz by looking at it from the front, since it doesn't visibly tick.
More details for the curious:
It takes a 36mm dial, 1mm thick. Belkin12 very graciously agreed to put together the one in this build.
It takes and comes with a Ronda quartz(!) with a plastic spacer. I think Hruodland are also using modified hour and minute wheels. I had different set of quartz hands in mind but they don't fit the movement included in the watch, so I ended up using the hands from Hruodland, but I am guessing they may fit ETA sizes.
