O mega Speedmaster was worn by the Apollo 11 astronaut in July 1969; however the first watch in space was Bulova Accutron.
Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, left his Omega in the LEM. Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, wore a Speedmaster.Bigshooter said:O mega Speedmaster was worn by the Apollo 11 astronaut in July 1969; however the first watch in space was Bulova Accutron.Bigshooter said:What was the watch worn by the first man on the moon?
This also isn't quite the case. In 1962, when NASA started testing watches for space use, Rolex Chronos weren't as good as Omegas. The Daytona was just 2 years old and were apparently not available in Huston. The watches used were the only off-the-shelf piece of technical equipment used by NASA.ken72 said:Nasa contacted rolex and requested 50 chronometers to test and an employee of Rolex SA who took the call told Nasa they did not have enough in stock to send them. The powers that be at rolex were unaware of the original request and not to happy at the outcome. Just think they could have been wearing cosmographs or daytonas on the moon.
