Last year I bought a panerai homage watch from AliExpress during their 11.11 extravaganza.
I wasn't initially looking for a watch when I browsed AliExpress but there was a little ad at the bottom page that caught my eye. It was a MARINA MILITARE watch that looked like a mash up between pam024 and pam025. These are the ones sold by davidsen long time ago and no longer exist.
The package arrived in a standard chinese watch plastic case and to my surprise it comes with an extra leather strap with buckle, 2 spare screws for crownguard and a screw driver that resembles the one that come with a gen panerai. The leather strap quality is on par with rep panerai watch. Without using scale, I think the weight is similar to a stainless steel marina luminor panerai.
There were a few different versions of this watch being offered. I chose the one with the hopnail dial just like pam025. What I received is a very well made dial. The nobnail pattern is crisp, the printing of the texts are clean and the texts are raised. The indices has chrome edge and filled with lume material. The lume is weak unfortunately. The crystal has no AR. The magnifying glass is centered providing enough power to see the date clearly. The date wheel is also centered.
the case is polished evenly with smooth finish and no wavy surface. Nothing to complain. Case back is solid without any engraving.
Crownguard looks nice but the lever is floppy when open and feels flimsy probably because it is thin. The lever does press on the crown and once secured it stays in place.
The bezel is brush finish. While the 30 and 45 marker are ferfectly alligned, the 15 marker is a bit crooked. The engravings on the bezel is clear, there is no gap between the bezel and the case. The bezel turns with good amount of resistance and feels solid.
It is an automatic watch with very decent power reserve. Fully wind it has enough power to run the watch for 2 days. Accuracy is also good. Comparing it with my smart watch after one day, it is still the same. So the difference is only a few seconds.
All in all it is a decent watch for the price. Decent enough to make me want to write something about it. There are several listings in aliexpress of the same watch with the price ranging between 90 to over 100 usd. The one that I bought was a little less than 90 dollars and with 11.11 discount the price was 84 usd shipped. The seller took one week to ship the watch and it took another two weeks to arrive.
