Hi everyone,

I posted a pre-a 004 Gen restoration project yesterday, where I mistakenly combined pictures from another Gen project (026A).... the pictuer issue has been all sorted out now :)

Well since it was just completed today I decided to move forward and have the pics from the other (a Gen 026A) restoration project posted up. The watch underwent the very same treatment like the 004 went trough (from my other thread from yesterday).

1. Removing old PVD coating
2. Getting out all the dents and inconsistencies from the case set
3. Beadblasting
4. DLC coating
5. Overhauling the movement
6. Putting the watch back together
7. Pressure testing and regulating

Enjoy... (double checked the pics, so not to allow embarrassing situations like the one from yesterday to take place ever again)

Thanks for posting these here, love to see these watches getting refurbished.. I've seen some of your work on other forums.

Would love to have a proper case color on my 026 rep one day.

Just a couple questions for nothing more than curiosity. Since you have to remove nicks, etc, in the process it seems it is necessary to "soften" some of the sharp edges? How does refinishing affect the values in the eyes of the Paneristi?

It is virtually impossible for one to even guess that the watch underwent such treatment. The only way to be determined is to have the watch examined by Panerai themselves by a computer. I have done many watches with defects due to a regular daily wear that were sold afterwards with a great mark up... especially limited editions where some people made alot of money of the end result.

It does indeed look like a brand new watch.

The T dial makes it especially attractive.

Thanks again.

Just beautiful! I would really love to have a case of my gen 048 (now all scratched up with some small dents) restored back to its former glory day. Any idea how much the watchsmith would normally charge for such job?
