If you had told me months ago that I’d be on a first-name basis with a REP watch dealer halfway across the world via WhatsApp, I’d have laughed and checked the time on my Apple Watch.
Fast forward to now, and I’m three orders deep with Steve at TheOneWatches, and I’ve got a growing collection (and shrinking bank account) to prove it.
Order #1 – The Gateway Drug:
My love of mechanical watches had fully resurfaced. Being a child of the ’60s, I had always dreamt of owning the iconic Omega worn on the Apollo missions. So I finally did it — I bought a GEN Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch “Sapphire Sandwich” with 3861 Movement from DavidSW here in Florida. Not for everyone, I know, but it had been a multi-decade obsession and for that reason, I went GEN.
Final Thoughts:
Steve’s communication? (Yes, I know it’s a team, but they’re all called Steve in my mind) — flawless.
Shipping? Jet-like. I went FedEx option.
Quality? So convincing that my wife is not buying my story of only buying one GEN. And is wondering when she gets some love, I suspect I won’t be for a while.
Anyway if this keeps up, I might need a fourth order… or a support group.
I freely admit that prepaying someone that you have had zero dealings with, who is on the other side of the world, was a bit nerve wracking. But appreciate all the reviews provided by all of you to alleviate those concerns by looking at your feedback.
Thanks again, Steve (and DavidSW) — now excuse me while I go rearrange my watch box… again.
Cheers

Order #1 – The Gateway Drug:
- Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
This started innocently enough needing a dress watch for a match to suit for an event. A classic piece. Clean. Refined. I told myself, “Just one for dressier occasions.” Famous last words.
- Daytona 116500LN Panda Dial
- AP Royal Oak Blue Dial
This order was like realizing you can’t eat just one chip. A chronograph to flex and an icon to impress. At this point, I had already accepted that I was on a slippery, sapphire crystal-covered slope.
- Cartier Santos XL SS White Dial
- Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712 Blue Dial
- Tudor Pelagos Titanium Black Dial
By now, Steve and I are basically pen pals. I don’t even check tracking anymore — I just know something beautiful is inbound. This trio covers it all: elegance, complication, and tool-watch ruggedness… in a very convincing package.
