The 082 by Davidsen, we waited long enough for it, but its here now (=

When I first received this watch I was very impressed with the accessories, came with a key chain thingy, a really nice MMX 24mm strap and a Ti buckle with "Panerai" and the Panerai logo engraved into it. Came with spare springs for the strap too, which is great! Overall very impressed with shipping time and accessories +1 to DSN.

Then we move on to the watch. I immediately rushed home and changed the strap to my BOB Ivory alligator and threw on a unbranded Ti buckle and blamo, you have a good watch. From my initial inspection of the watch I was very happy with the quality of the Ti case and Sapphire crystal. The CG and is also a lot better than its predecessor, the version 1.0 I have already received positive feedback from coworkers and friends a like, and I believe it is just the tip of the iceberg. For me, I believe this is "that piece of ambrosia" everyone is looking for themselves, and the more I wear it, the more I love it.

OK, onto the picture review. This is work easily, First comes the GEN picture, then the FIRST 82, then the VERSION 2.0 82, unless otherwise stated.

Sorry for the thumb print,

The dial is everything I expected it to be, which is nothing short of awesome. I absolutely love it. The font lume is a bit green, as you can tell, but when I was outside in the sun for about thirty minutes, so where the hands (exact same color as the font), so I do not know the big issue? On top of which some of the pictures I've seen of the 82 on TZ the font looked pretty damn green to me, but then again, its always to the eye of the beholder. I, for one, am very happy with this. If it starts to drive me nuts I'll send it to Vac for a quickie with some C1. Otherwise, right now, I have no gripe.

The Lume

NOTE: Mind you that it was a VERY LIT ROOM. The second picture was overexposed for 1 second. Ambrosia apple thanks to Anubis, and for the lume shots. The lume is actually very good, not 177h/111h quality because its not a sandwich dial, but it is very very good. When I am driving at night it is very easy to see, of course the hands are brighter, but the gen is probably about 5+ yrs old, the lume would probably fade just like it. So for the lume I say, its fine.

The CG

It opens with no issues and "snaps" in place, I am very happy with the guard itself and its construction. Also, the crown itself is thicker than the version 1.0 I believe, and it doesn't that overlapping clasp problem, atleast to the naked eye.

The AR

What can I say? Its DSN AR. Its awesome.

The Conclusion

I am very happy with this watch overall, I am very happy with the design, the quality and everything, especially the Ti . If you are waiting, weighing if not to buy this watch or not, buy it. Stop wasting your time and own this rare watch. I did not hesitate to pull the trigger because I absolutely needed it, but we all have our reasons. If the green font bothers you, send it to vac, if the blue dial bothers you, get your eyes checked, or buy a 177h. Either way, keep it Ti.

Hope you enjoyed my Review, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask!

Nice review with excellent picture. I am holding out my purchase of this watch mainly due to dial issue and "not so good" caseback too. Nonetheless, I will bear this in mind. I hope david really fixes the dial's lume colour. It's definitely not C3 colour. In case you are reluming Novesh, don't try C1, go for C3 (which is the same as the hands' lume). The white is really too white which is wrong.

I am with Takashi with this one. This will be a future purchase, but for that amount of money I want a better dial. The caseback does not concern me as much. However, this is a good review with good pictures.

Cool watch. Looks really amazing... overall quality....

One issue I (still) have with the dial is the 3D effect of the hour markers...

I can actually pass on the green - maybe I am one of those Asian men who can't detect green ^^ , but I think the markers look too... 3D (I can't think of any other words)... If you look the gen photo Novesh posted, markers look... very flat (I can't think of any other others :) )

I did see though a more detailed pic of the gen, it is indeed a little more 3D than regular painted dial and it did have the indented borders around them in the pic (not as visible than DSN's).

I wonder if Davidsen just sells the TI case, movement, and the crystal... and swap the dial out to a Vaccuumed or RBJ-ed rep dial... it'll be one expensive rep, but I think more accurate...

Either way though watch looks really amazing... certainly a huge improvement from his last version.

Thanks for the pics!

Joe, DSN is the only one who makes the 082 dial, so if you want it, you gotta get it from him. I think RBJ/Vac *might* be able to fill in the engraved outlines with lume a bit for you to reduce the "3D" look some. It'd be a tough and tension filled job, however.

I think the new one looks really good. I didn't have a gripe about the lume color so much as the crappy application on ver. 1 of this watch.

I'm discussing the possibility of an unbranded version with Davidsen now (plain Ti caseback and unbranded or just Marina Militare dial).

Thanks for the review, Novesh! Great work.

Taka -- take a look at Vac's post about the 082 he relumed with C1. The underlying green lume "bleeds" through the C1 a bit, giving it a really nice look, IMO. Not brilliant white, but white with just a touch o' green...

peep: it's a mixture of C1 and C3 then... can't say C1 purely because it's really going to give you a pure white.

Thanks for the great pictures and review, I've been waiting for this since you announced your purchase. I still don't own a TI and I think I may pull the trigger on this one very soon.

Yep, absolutely. But, we're talking about reluming this dial in particular, not all dials in general. Reluming this one with C3 would still be too green, I'd bet.

ah I got it... Because the blue background. either paint it with base white colour then c3 on top. Or as you said. Green and blob it with c1. But C1's luminosity really won't make the cut.

That's certainly the trade off. Although, the dial on my DC57 is C1 and it glows plenty well. No telling how thick they applied it, though (and it *is* the entire dial, not just small markers, I'm sure that makes a difference).

The only way to minimize the "green" lume color on this dial is to apply c-1 on top of the existing lume.
