Hey guys,
just saw a picture of a fantasy Panerai in a 47mm case with this shot of the movement:

Has anyone seen this on a rep before?? Any ideas on where to get it? The movement looks amazing... I would think this is a gen movement, but the last time it changed owners for like 180USD shipped

Regards,
Nik

I believe that movement is nothing more than an A7750 with the self-winding bits removed and bridge plates that mimic the OEM movement put on. IIRC, the position of the jewels and mounting points of the plates to the movement are all wrong (as would be expected, since it's an A7750). The problem with that, to me, is that you are now forced to hand-wind a movement that was not designed to be manually wound all the time.

Do a search, you will come up with more than one thread about the winding gears on A7750 movements being stripped from too much/too vigorous winding. Has this problem being rectified? I don't know, but I'm not going to pay to find out, either.

Yeah, most of the jewels dont match the gen part, that much is clear :p.
I still love the way it looks tho, definitely beats any Unitas copy.. Guess I'll have to do some more research ;). I could live with the need to wind it up very slowly
Saw some offers with this movement on ioffer, so it seems it is still in circulation [smilie=alien.gif]

Yup - looks good, but hand-wind 7750 is bad mojo. Would be interesting to see if something like this could be done with the so-called "Lemania" (Sea-Gull) handwind mvt...

This is an old version of the 233 we used to sell them for $99 so doubt it is 7750 based . I think if I remember rightly that the movement was nothing special just an Asian 17 jewel hand wind

Thanks for the info, T4D. Did using the 17j movement put the subdial spacing off?

I was wondering about that movement, too!

But isn't the caseback a bit too thick? I mean isn't the window on the caseback too small?

Guess the movement is made for the 44mm cases, havent had much time to research about this. The case in the picture is 47mm. The caseback is way too big anyhow, the gen parts have a larger part of the movement visible. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get more time to look into this [smilie=angel10.gif] . The bridges look so nice like this :)

take care,
nik
