7750 Winding Noise

I got a IWC with a high beat 7750 movement. When I wind the watch using the crown I hear the distinct audible noise of gears grinding against each other. Also, as I am screwing in the crown , I hear this noise.
I also have a Asian 21J and ETA 2824 powered watch and I have never heard this noise so distinctly. Also in these as I shake the watch I can distinctly hear the rotor moving a couple of times after I have stopped, while in the 7750 the rotor seems to stop as soon as I stop the hand movement.

This is my first time with 7750, Is this normal?

I'm not so sure about it being normal...i don't think its just the rotor bearing making noise?
I have a lot of asian 7750's, and of the ones which had problems, they all had those symptoms. The rotor would not wind the mechanism. Somebody has explained why (in detail) in the past.....but i can't remeber who. I reverted to hand winding using the crown, but in time that too would fail and eventually the movts stopped working completely.

I think the remedy was a strip down and service....

well i can at least say that the whirring noise is typical? WHIR WHIR WHIR WHIR WHIR after you stop shaking it.

there's a .wav file floating around but i'm too lazy to dig it up. it's on here somewhere, i posted it ... SOMEWHERE :(

my 7750 whirs like that and it's been ~ 1 year and still running. if this is your first 7750, your concerns are pretty much like the others regarding the noise.

just dont change the dates between 10 o clock and 2... seems to jam there and can screw up the gears.

The 7750's are geared so the resistance is lower so it oscillates faster to give it more torque to load the spring. My gen. 7754 actually shakes it's spinning so fast. When I first got it I was freaked out. As to the gears making exessive noise when using the stem is a crap shoot. I would watch it closely and consider a service.

from what i have heard a servicing definitely reduces the noise down (but whir will still be there). i havent gotten any of my 7750's serviced yet tho. 200 bux to spare anyone?

I have a IWC 3717 with the Asian 7750 movement and no noise at all. Very smooth indeed.

Well, just to highlight a few differences between Asian 7750 Hi Beat rate and ETA7750.

1. Much smoother winding action on ETA7750. ETA7750 winds very smoothly and it seems to have a slightly longer power reserve as well.
2. Missing fine tuner on Asian 7750 hi beat. This makes it not easy to adjust timing on this movement. You need a little bit of luck to set the timing accuracy of this movement.
3. Different behaviour of chronograph function. On Asian 7750, you will see that the minute counter advances when the second counter is around 58th second mark. On ETA7750 it is almost simultaneously on 60th second mark.
4. Different behaviour of day advancement. On Asian 7750 the day will advance at about 2.30am. On ETA7750 both day and date will advance almost at the same time but not really simultaneously. Difference is about 15 minutes.
5. Feeling of chrono pushers. Well... on ETA7750 is just butter smooth. Just like what you'd expect from a genuine watch.

That is what keeps me from picking up another 7750, I can't get over the noise. Sadly, there are a TON of beautiful watches that house the 7750 so my pickin's is slimmer.
