Hello everyone,

We all know that the A7750 movement is a AP ROO owners nightmare. Its a time bomb, and you never know when it will go off.
When Im looking at the Hublot BB 9@sec owners, they seem to be happy with their watches, as it doesnt has the 12@sec mod and not fuckin up - even the Hublot brand section is not full of complaints about the movement. I hope that Noob factory will find a solution to this problem with their upcomming new AP ROO models - if the rumor is true.

But I have some questions about the current 12@sec models. Is it best to get the movement serviced, when the watch arrives from a TD or is it best to wait until the bomb goes off?
And do you have any good advice about the 12@sec mod, that I can tell my watchsmith? I will let him try anything with the watch as a experiment. Maybe he can find a good solution to the common 12@sec problem.

Hey Kurt, you will no doubt have people chiming in from both sides of the fence. I personally would say, use it until it dies, and then get it serviced. Many people here have had many years of ownership trouble free. Then when it craps out, you pay for the work to be done.

Luck of the draw with them though as it may shit it's pants two weeks after arrival.

As for your local guy, I'd really recommend that you send it to one of the guys on this forum, those who know and understand the additional gear system to drive the sec@12. There are some that offer a jewel mod that should theoretically cure the problem. It's a big job though, but not mega bucks.

So I say, dive in, wear it until it dies, then get it serviced. And good luck....

Thanks for the info bkg!

I know that Domi might help here in EU, but he is a busy guy. I will still contact him, when the bomb goes off, and see what he says.
Lets hope that noob factory or JF will find a solution for us - AP ROO fans.

Forgot to ask - will a service only start the time bomb again, or will it work without consideration

No service will ever eradicate the issue. Even a gen watch should ideally be serviced every 5 years. The oils dry up, parts become worn etc. Add to that the poor design of the gears to run sec@12 and it'll shorten the lifespan before another service.

The Jewel mod would be better but the watch will still need regular servicing even with that. Think of it as fitting a performance chip to a car, the engine runs better but will still need servicing and parts will still wear.

Just be grateful you don't have to pay gen service costs. AP would charge about $5k for that!!!

Thanks for your reply - I really appreciate that.
As I understood, the service will help a little bit, but not much. The movement will still be a time bomb, but wont go off so quickly as if it arrives from a TD. As you mentioned - every watch has to get a service like cars and so on, its not only the reps.
Lets hope that the watchmakers will find a solution quickly. Got a feeling that many rep owners dont have any hopes about the A7750, and wont buy a rep with the movement.
