Hi,

What is the difference between 6497G and 6497E?
Which is considered to be better?

Sorry for the silly question, but I got confused...

Thank you,
Eleley

Are you asking about the difference between the E series and the G series movements used by Panerai? I don't think that Unitas/ETA ever used any letter designators for different grades of the 6497 movement.

E series Panerai watches should have the dagger shaped regulator/swan neck and the bridges should have the grafitti style "PANERAIPANERAIPANERAIPANERAI" decoration on them.

I *think* G series was the first of the Cotes de Geneve decoration on the bridges. Maybe that was H series watches, though.

Does that help?

That's what I thought, I was just too lazy to check.

So, to the OP, there is effectively no difference between the E and G series 6497 movements.

except that decoration makes them look very different in a display back. Also, of course, the accuracy of either to the gen is something to consider.

Huh? E and G are both the "grafitti" style decoration with dagger shaped regulator and swan-neck. So, they would both look the same.
