My custom 6152 vintage watch from Davidsen arrived today. Wow, what a beauty! This is easily my new favorite watch. I *love* the new Marina Militare dial with the thinner cut-outs and vintage looking lume. I think the blue California style hands look really good on this watch.

I'm becoming a big fan of plexi crystals, they really add to the vintage appeal of pieces like this. The watch came with a buffalo grain black strap and an engraved screw-in Panerai buckle. I swapped it out for my Mario Paci XII from Elliot. A perfect match for this watch, I think.

Here are the crappy pics  :

Thanks guys. It came with the solid, unmarked caseback installed. I'll swap on the domed plexi caseback and take some pics tomorrow. Yep, Rollie bridges on this one, they're not perfect, but I appreciate the effort.

This one was a custom order, yes. Not sure how much stock he has in the standard watches. Regardless, he shipped the watch in less than a week from when I sent him payment.

Ordered the watch on the Jan 2nd, he shipped it on the 6th, it arrived on the 13th. Not bad...

That's a beauty, VDB! Where did you find the movement for that one?

That's my ultimate project, Angelus movement with subseconds and Marina Militare dial....

You won't be disappointed, JoJo!

Join the club. Though, I have found out from others that one better to know a LOT before taking on an Angelus project watch ....

Does anyone know if the miltary style hands (in blue or black as shown on the 6152 from Davidsen) are correct if used on 6152 "Marina Militare" with the case with CG ?

I don't believe so, CISO. All of the gen pics I've seen have had the brass/gold hands.

That said, if you like the blued California style hands, go for it!

I'm really thinking of ordering another 6152/1 (this one with CG) and having Davidsen use an "unbranded" 2533 dial and these hands. They're so dark, they don't even appear blue in most lighting.

Love these vintage pieces!

That's a cool idea. I just want to get a basic Marina Militare first and go from there.

I have seen the california style hands on a base dial Radiomir style with the wire lugs. That watch that was on the UK Antiques Road show was like that. So am wondering if the style with CG would be "possible" :)

Given the "no rules/consitency" to the early days of Panerai, especially with all the iterations given to various military units, I don't think anything is outside the realm of possibility as long as you stick to using parts that were available at that time.
