Firstly, I apologise to anyone with a slow internet connection
I'm having difficulty deciding on a case for my 6152/1 project - hopefully someone here will have some useful input. I'll start with a few reference pictures (which I'm sure you've all seen) just to describe exactly what I'm looking for.
I know the lugs will need some work regardless of what rep case I pick up. What I'm looking for is a case with decent side profile, and ideally one that could take spring bars with minimal filling (the RXW style case is a pain in the arse with screws either side!!). If anybody knows where it's possible to source a machined display back (not polished) with or without 'Officine Panerai Brevettato' engraving, I'd like to hear from you!
The following pictures are what I've already got - any suggestions of mods to them, or a better case than any of these would be greatly appreciated.
(From top to bottom: Asian Auto case, RXW-style case, E01117/1950 case)
Asian Auto Pam case:
Fiddy E0117/1950 case:
Pro's: Great CG and pin (Other than engraving) Con's: Tapered lugs, profile is off?
RXW-style case:
Pro's: Good CG, lugs not tapered. Con's: Lacks detail and looks / feels cheap, screws on both sides of the strap, side profile is terrible.
I know I'm being fussy, but I'd appreciate any advice of either what case to go with and recommendations of how to mod it, or where to source a better one. I'm leaning towards polishing the Fiddy case, but even then I'd need help with sourcing a new case back and the case would still need a lot of work. I'll sort a plexi out when I've decided on a case - a thick case back would be great, but I've hit a dead end with sourcing places to make a custom one. Any ideas / suggestions?!
