5811 Build

Got my 5811 build (3KF base, BUFF dial and hands) WG plated by @Natas78 who did an amazing job on this and makes a such a difference compared to SS. He also fixed an issue with the movement too! Work to do I think is crown recess, fix fat bezel and trim ear and get hands and hour markers WG plated. Anything else worth doing or is that it?

My takeaway is that this is a beautiful watch, much improved from stock. The 3KF dial is awful OOTB, but Buff is certainly closer to Gen. I don't know how it would do head-to-head with the Gen, but I doubt I'll ever find out. Now I just need to explain how I got a 5811 when asked

Geektime can usually procure parts, try him first. RC Studio (popup) as well.

Very nice - this dial colour is definitely closer than stock to the gen I tried on - maybe just a tinge more purple (although this could be the lighting). See my images of the gen for reference.

I haven't got the base watch either. RC's page says he can install, but don't know if he can supply the modded item. Also unsure as to whether he is able to gold plate the watch. Have you reached out to him?

Usual caveats aside about how lighting/ lens distortions/ image processing etc impact images, the Buff just seems miles ahead of the stock dial. Here's a photo I found on Redditt of both the 3KF and Buff side by side - at least in this image, the Buff appears impressively close to the gen I have handled:

@zinduna what are your thoughts on the Buff datewheel? Any issues with alignment? The majority of the images I have come across of this DW installed in a 5811 seem okay (font is fairly close imo), but one or two seem to show the dates a bit too shifted to the left (though I may be nit-picking here).

edit: this may also merely be down to the angles that some of the photos were taken

I think the buff date wheel is just fine. The font is a little bolder and more gen like but honestly, a fraction of a mm here or there is not noticeable.
