5711 Nautilus or 5167 Aquanaut for small wrist?

Hello everyone! I've been eyeing a Patek to add to my collection and have been eyeing this section of RWI for a few days now. For the Nautilus I'd very much prefer the simpler 5711 over the 5712 (Thinking of 3KF + Buff dial + keylog datewheel) but I also like the 5167 Aquanaut as well. As for the Aquanaut I'm still doing my homework on them (ZF or 3KF).

Part of my appeal towards PP was due to its remarkably thin case shape and small lug to lug (At least compared to the subs and DJs I have) as well as the flat caseback which would be much more ideal for my small wrists. My submariner looks way too big on me for starters and the protruded caseback makes it hard to wear during hot summer days.

Based on research, I see that the Aquanaut's rubber strap doesn't taper as well as the 5711's bracelet, and some people to shave off the first links on the 5711s for a better fit (Endlink mod). And as for size, while the Aquanaut has a bigger wrist presence everything beyond that is similar (lug to lug, case flatness, thickness etc). But beyond this I cannot find any good threads on this.
So from your experience, which one of these watches would be better for me? Below are photos of me with a gen speedy and submariner for reference. Thanks in advance everyone

Both will suit you very well. Get both watches and keep the one you prefer - they tend to sell quite easily m2m - before modding it further if you fancy a more gen like watch.

or keep both (which is pretty much what is going to happen)

I've had both and they're great for the smaller wrists. Currently have a 5167 on a 7in. Back when I had a 6.5in it was fine as well.

I have to ask. How is it possible that you increase your wrist size by 0.5? :)

I would also recommend the 5711. Integrated bracelets look more seamless and as a result don't highlight the size of your wrist.

Right thank you, a couple of my online friends have mentioned that the “endlink mod” would help the watch taper better, would you recommend it? @gilrob @gelite

Go look at Watchbox videos of Tim Mosso who has a 16cm wrist. Look at his Sub video then Aquanaut/5711 video to see if it would fit you.

Judging by how the sub fits the 5711 would not fit you comfortably, the end link to end link is 50-51mm.

Yes I have watched a lot of his videos, including both ones you mentioned! I see that compared to the submariner, the 5711 has a shorter lug to lug as well as almost half the thickness and a flatter caseback. Would you recommend doing the endlink mod so that the watch tapers better?

Yes, I think I will buy the 3KF 5711 white dial (Which I suppose has little difference from gen) and if I like it I’ll order the buff blue dial + keylog datewheel, if I don’t I can always sell it

Lug to lug doesnt't matter on the 5711. The bracelet doesnt drape down 90 degrees. The end links drape down and the real length is 50mm. End link mod would be good for you but just be aware.

Right thank you, I've also noticed that the Aquanaut strap doesn't drape down 90 degrees either. What would you recommend in this situation?

Maybe look at a Cartier Santos
Very thin watch
And the watch it self follows the wrist
I've looked at the santos as well, but the GF version is not available right now and I am waiting for it to come back hopefully. Great watch by the way!

Grab a 5711 with a flexible first link mod. You won't regret it. But it's a rabbit hole concerning modding. 😂

Would it be challenging for a local watchmaker to do this to a brand new watch? I live outside EU/US currently and would prefer new
