My new 557 arrived this week from Ken at Physcospikes.
As usual fantastic service and quality from Ken. If you have not bought from Ken, you should. Top guy to deal with and always very good quality watches.
This is the new 557 with V2 super clone movement.
I had an earlier 372 with decorated movement, the new super clone is a vast improvement. Both in look, but more importantly function. The V2 feels like much better quality. It winds smoothly and has so far kept great time. 72 hour power reserve is pretty accurate. First full wind lasted about sixty eight hours before it started to lose time.
As we all know the movement has a few tells, so I am no going to dwell on it.
Overall thoughts on the movement though are it is very good quality and well made.
I love the simple dial layout and the fact it is a Destro.
Vintage but modern looking. A simple change of strap from the supplied Asso to a thick cut 26/26 will completely change the nature of the 557(will mean buying a 26mm buckle though)
I have used bees wax to darken the Asso strap to a more gen like look and am happy with the result.
Dial engravings are nice, better than the 372. CG is a perfect fit and finish with nice sharp engraving.
Case shape is really good and the plexi is very clear and pretty much distortion free.
All in all a very nice watch and one I am very happy to have in my collection.
