I wanted to build a 5513 from the ground up. I’ve built other Subs in the past, vintage and newer, but never where the crystal, bezel and insert wasn’t already in tact on the midcase.
This was quite the experience. (Let me say without the expertise and help of @tripdog, I’d be in limbo on this build. He literally helped me so much, I can’t thank him enough. What a master of the craft.)

Thanks to RWI for this site. Without it I wouldn’t be able to learn more about this incredibly fun and expensive hobby. Lol. This site is so full of great people and amazing information.

I’m going to list where I sourced parts for those (like me) that are new to this. Im not saying these are the places to go…..I’m sure there’s other places that you all may like better, but these are the places I used.

-I purchased a 5513 case from @milk051506. He got it shipped quickly and was happy with the case overall. Thank you @milk051506. Came with case, crystal retaining ring, washer and bezel.

-Gen ETA 2824-2 from wholesaleoutlet990 on eBay
- 580 endlinks
- 20 mm spring bars from them as well.
-Purchased a dial from mochacha.org
-VINTAGE ROLEX #5513 ETA SUBMARINER 200M MATTE BLACK SERIF REFINISHED DIAL + HAND-SET (for a 2824-2)
(I really like what he has for the price)
Shipping was fast and great communication from them.
-5513 bezel insert mochacha

-raffles bracelet 93150 (for now) may go gen?!?
-5513 domed crystal from classic watchrepair.com. Great customer service.
-helenrou movement holder
-702 Athaya crown tube and crown
-gen Rolex caseback gasket (could have went cheaper) next time
-GS hypo cement from eBay
-3M bezel insert stickers from eBay
-20 mm gasket for rehaut (something @tripdog shared with me to use when fitting crystal)
Took about 3 weeks to source all the parts.
Overall this was a great experience. I took my time and bugged the hell out of @tripdog. Again, I can’t thank him enough.

Here’s the finished piece. I really love it. Although I have several Gen Subs and other models, I’m going to hang on to this bc it is my first build from the ground up.

Comments and input is more than welcome! I’d love to learn more From you all.

Good job on your first build. Obviously you went first class and spent good money on the build.
But, there's two things that caught my eye, the first one is the metal surround on the bezel pearl- maybe you could pop it out and replace it with an Athaya all acrylic pearl. Not that big a deal. The second thing is the overly pronounced chamfers on the milk case- especially on the crown guard side. Rolex chamfers were never that pronounced, they were much more subtle.
Of course now it's on to aging your pristine 5513- enjoy!

I took this pic upon completion. Since then I added a different pearl and faded bezel insert.
I’m having case and crown guards reworked by someone on this site. I think I will be happy with it then. Thanks for your input! Much appreciated.
