390 crystal...

Is everyone happy with the 390 crystal? I understand the gen has single ar coating and the rep has this, but I'm just not satisfied.. my 005 has fantastic AR compared to the 390 although I prefer the 390.

Has anyone had any modifications done to the crystal of the 390? I am interested to see it with double ar like the 005 as thinking of doing this to the 390.

Could anyone link me to where I could buy such a crystal? Or is it a case of sending it off to remove and re apply double ar?

Why not just swap your crystals?

My 390 looks good to me and I tried it on new h factory as well as new noob crystal and quality was the same

Why does your 005 have double ar?

To double ar you would have to have your crystal stripped and recoated

Double ar would make it clearer but less accurate to the gen especially if the ar tints or reflects a different color

It may not have double ar, i just assumed it did because it really is a lot better then the 390. The crystal on the 005 is barely visible, where as the 390 crystal has a slight haze.

I am not swapping crystal as I plan to sell the 005 tonight or tomorrow.

The 005 crystal has been highly regarded but if single sided I don't believe the difference could be as great as what you are describing.
I have heard someone else say the same in comparing a 111 noob crystal though to the 390 h factory crystal.
In that case I am positive unless that owner somehow got a bad batch it is just the brown dial color maybe not popping as much as black.

As stated I have had this same dial inside the h factory case with the h factory crystal and inside the noob 111 case as shown in the pics attached and studied them very closely and see absolutely no difference in clarity between the 2.

I didn't realise that was your thread, I actually went through that a couple of days ago (nice straps)

I mean I cannot describe it any better then that. If you have had it in both cases I shall leave it, but the dial on the 005 is just a lot clearer and clean, 390 just has a haze about it, but you could be right about the brown dial, may make it look not as clear? I will post pics in a bit when I get back from work.

My 390 isn't cloudy but in comparison to the v1 005k I has more of a haze, not as crisp ,sharp. The double Ar Pam was a noob v2 and it was simply stunning crystal disappeared and was amazing in direct sunlight.

Yes this is the 005 I have. I have the 005 Noob v2 and the crystal is simply stunning. I guess what i'm trying to say is I wish the crystal on the 390 was like this, would love the gold hands to 'pop' that bit more

Yes I know what your saying, and as the Op says its very possible that the crystal on your v2 005 is actually double Ar, considering that the Pam 111m at that time was being shipped with double Ar as in the picture I've posted
