Hi, I'm planning on getting the kw bronzo in the next week or so. I have a nickel allergy and was wondering if anyone here, who KNOWS they have a nickel allergy, has bought the watch and if it's affecting them. I read on panerai's site that their bronze is copper and tin. But when I looked up bronze composition on the web some resources listed nickel in the comp. I know they claim same composition as gen but that's a little hard to believe that they perfectly cloned the chemical comp of the metal lol. I have had no issues with my two steel reps. Assuming there may be nickel in the case the clear caseback and ti around it may keep the nickel far enough away from my skin to prevent the itchy rash but I'd still like to know for sure before dropping the $. Thanks in advance.

Be almost sure that you will not find expensive nickel in a regular Bronze
Whereas Steel reps have a high quantity of Ni in their composition

No worries about

Maybe it's just the level. Because I have a noob sub and an ap diver. I have been wearing one or thd other 24 hours a day with no issues. So the 316 steel thats listed is fine. But get me near a canal st. rollie, fake gold jewlery, some cheaper silver, belt buckles, earings, even some lower quality gen watches... pretty much anything and I get a poison ivy like rash.

There is just something so cool about that bronzo. It's not my usual style. But it looks like some antique dive helmet or something. It's awesome!

Hey ALE, I also want to thank you for that awesome pam guide. Because of it I'll probably be picking up a 177 sometime soon. I have a titanium citizen blue angels that just dissapears on my wrist when it comes to feel because of the light weight. I never would've noticed that watch or pams in general if it wasn't for this site and that guide.

Thanks for your kind words and glad to be helpful

Now I have doubts about your allergy because good 316 has more content of Nickel that the cheap ones. Maybe you are allergic to another material, Copper and Copper patinas included
Then you should be careful with the bronze because it has more than 90% of copper

Nope copper is fine. It's definately a nickel allergy. I got a nickel testing kit, and I get all my beltbuckles and other items from a site specializing in nickel free items. So I'm sure of it. Not sure why the 316 doesn't effect me. Maybe it chemically changes in that particular blend. Or maybe it's actually a different steel then what the web sight states. I've never had an issue with copper, brass, or titanium. Who knows but I feel lucky that I'm able to wear the noob and j12 stuff.

I can get away with wearing a nickle containing item for around 12-24 hours with no ill effects. After that though my skin needs a decent break from it before I can wear it again

OK
In this case you will not get problems with the bronze
Try it

But I don't understand why you have NO problems with SS. Even the bad SS have high content of Ni, and they are alloys not a chemical compound (no changes in atomic structure)

Ok so I figured it out. The nickel in the 316L doesn't effect my because of the finishing according to this guy in the 4th post in the link., http://www.finishing.com/218/60.shtml

I am also not affected by my gen breitling steelfish.

As far as the copper goes just to be safe I have a pre-zink era penny under a band aid on my forearm right now lol. its like 90 something percent copper so If I don't see any issue in like a day or two I'm fine with it. I really don't think I'll end up with any issues from it since I've never had any kind of copper allergy in the past but hey better safe then sorry right?

Even if an allergy does pop up I'm not sure I can resist the bronzo lol. It's just super cool. I mean I could always grab that 177 but the appeal isn't the same. Each watch I buy tends to be as different as possible and the bronzo is like nothing I own right now. I currently have a noob ceramic hulk sub v3 (self explanatory everyone needs a sub:), AP diver V6 (so perfect I love it), Citizen blue angels titanium (super accurate gadget watch), Suunto ambit (gps triple sensor gadget watch), Casio pathfinder( another triple sensor gadget watch lol), and last but not least the Breitling superocean steelfish (Just a beautiful, subtle, diving watch IMHO) The bronzo will fill it's own empty spot. It's a classy, antique looking, leather banded watch that has a super masculine appeal to it, and It is a completely different tone then all my steel plastic and Ti. It must join the others lol. It will be my only leather banded watch. Although I found some beautiful replacement AP bands at hamilton leather works. Hornback croc, sharkskin, And some other very nice bands. I think I'll be getting one in the near future.

Yes it is an interesting and nice complement of you collection
Bronze on Should be bout 92% Copper 8% Tin

Concerning the link you are talking about, there is in it an interesting explanation:
"a thin, clear layer of chromium oxide which prevents corrosion." --> and therefore can also prevent allergic effects.
Indeed all good quality SS have a high content of expensive chromium, which protects (through its layer of chromium oxide) the metal from the corrosion.
This layer can also prevent the allergy of your skin.

Bad quality SS have low contents of chromium and that can explain the reaction of these low quality metals over your skin.
That makes sense now. Thanks for the link

Good Luck
