So I happened to run across a new ZF bronzo in person recently as I was summoned to lend assistance.

The bezel was terribly misaligned and did not line up at 12. The more I looked at it the whole thing seemed tilted.

So.....as I'm staring at it, it hits me. The date wheel wasn't lined up, the bezel wasn't lined up....maybe the dial was off. I measured each side of the case when the bezel was as close to 12 as it would go and sure enough the dial was cocked. I broke it down and found very interesting things. The dial actually sits on the movement that is bolted to a metal cage. As far as i can tell there are no dial feet. Its more than a retaining ring. Its a bead blasted finished metal cage that houses the movement. I was able to rotate the dial ever so slightly and bam! The bezel and date wheel now both line up. It was the dial the whole damn time. It was crooked and caused everything to be crooked.

Qc is definitely a concern from ZF. For $500 they better start getting it together or dealers will stop selling due to returns and problems.

lol. I also realized that it was the whole dial that was crooked when I got the watch initially. So I thought I would just open the watch up and adjust the movement position slightly. But I haven't got my caseback opener yet.

Your finding opened up another possibility to fix this. Thanks mate!

The post was after I saw others complaining of the same issues. This one is back in its owners hands now.

I would love to see pics. I noticed today that the DW was off, but it makes sense that the dial could be moved 1mm or so down which would align it more with the bezel. Pics please!!

Maybe the member whose watch you fixed can post his QC pics if he didn't take any of the out of alignment dial/bezel (which would be unheard of :D ) and then the pictures of the corrected dial/bezel. :)

It would be great if you could make a tutorial, I will in the future if I get a misaligned 382 :)

I already disassembled a 389 and two 382.

I'm very interested in your story.

But first tell me, how you were able to rotate the dial, without getting problems with the seconds hand hole? Practically this is the limitation of rotating a 382 dial. <- There is not much play! And the stem ist the limitation of rotating a movement inside the case.

I was able to rotate a BP ceramic PO dial, because the dial feet sitting on the movement spacer and it has central seconds. But with seconds decentral (at 9) it's simply impossible (or just very slightly) to rotate the dial.

I used the seconds hole at 9 to be the rotating center point instead of the middle hands hole. I will try and put together a tutorial after the weekend. Its fairly simple though the stem release is a bit tricky on these P9000 movements.

QC issues on this piece for sure...they align the bezel so it looks correct in the QC pics, but the bezel doesn't actually click at 12, it's just before or just after. Also the dates didn't align properly either. I sent mine back to Angus.
