320 GMT...what's with the spring bar jobbies?

Ok, So i haven't been wearing this at all....(sold most of my PAM's) but i thought i would put a nice Gorilla Strap that i have in the drawer on it. However, how the hell does the spring bars come out?
What are the small 'push-in' holes for? I've never seen this before.
Thought i'd fire a quick question in here....I change straps all the time and make my own...but i've never come across this?

Push in the holes which are visible in the pic, then simultaneously push out the lug bar from the side where the hole is located.
